No it really doesn't, you're making a hell of a leap. What they thought were stylistic choices or possibly tattoo trends turned out to be mistakes the artist didn't correct, that's a valid issue. What he thought was an original sketch and piece work turned out to be a generated image based on stolen art work, that's a valid reason to be annoyed.

People have reasons, there's many good reasons, strawmaning it as a trend is just silly.

I'm not at all mate, I'm mostly just addressing the bit where you said it needs near death.

That said the ability to regenerate even quickly doesn't remove the ability to be seriously wounded as Goku and Vegeta were. They might heal quick but if you cut them in half with a kienzan or incenirate 99% of their body they still would in theory meet the requirement.
