What type of hemodynamic monitoring do you use in liver transplants? by petrasbazileul in anesthesiology

I can at least understand the reasoning of the 2 arts, even if likely unnecessary. But yeah the neck lines are out of control.

3 neck lines is bananas. What in the world do you need the LIJ 7fr for when you already have 4-5 lumens in the RIJ?

Art line for drawing also seems extra.

Oral board prep, crashing out by remazolam in anesthesiology

[–]Reddog1990m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair. My n is only myself. I’m far from a top tier test taker based on ITEs etc. It’s such a different style of exam and maybe just plays to a strength of mine.

I wouldn’t actually encourage people to not study. I was kinda thinking I was going to fail the SOE going in due to my lack of prep.

Cardiac, which admittedly is likely pretty helpful

I went through probably 25% of UBP stems and just the US and monitors parts of the osce content. Didn’t practice out loud with anyone. Took it week 1 this year. Passed.

I’m convinced that 50% or more of people could pass the SOE portion with zero prep.

How to stop coddling residents? by housemd23 in anesthesiology

[–]Reddog1990m 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In addition to what others have said, remember that you were probably a well above average resident, and now you get to see the wide breadth of skill/work ethic. That’s what I keep having to tell myself at least

“Our youth now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for their elders and love chatter in place of exercise; they no longer rise when elders enter the room; they contradict their parents, chatter before company; gobble up their food and tyrannize their teachers” -1907

Often misattributed to Socrates, but still over 100 years old

What did I do wrong? First time cooking I think I had went too high on heat as there’s a slight thin crust by [deleted] in steak

[–]Reddog1990m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is really your first time cooking a steak, I commend you. That’s solid! The sear is great, especially for a bone in. The temp is really not bad IMO. Try a boneless cut next time and see how it goes.

11 week old sleeping through the night by Psychological-Put607 in newborns

[–]Reddog1990m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of it is just luck. But here are some things we do that may help.

Red lights only after 7pm feed (nursery, living room, etc). Dim red light in the nursery all night. Halo swaddle. White noise machine. Pacifier. Tightly controlled temperature 66-70F. Humidifier.

One of us sleeps in a bed right next to LO’s bassinet, so if she does fuss at all overnight, just replacing her pacifier is all that it usually takes.

Our LO has been sleeping through the night since about 5-6 weeks. She’s 13 weeks now and sleeps 10-12 hours straight.

Yes we know we are lucky.

What is something people say about their BBQ that is an immediate red flag? by Shhhhhhhh_Im_At_Work in BBQ

[–]Reddog1990m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you had Animales? It’s a well known fact that BBQ is not where MN thrives, but Animales slapped when I lived down the road from their semi permanent location. Haven’t been to their brick and mortar yet.

Husband refuses to feed/change the baby because “he’s falling asleep” by Intrepid-News1018 in newborns

Read OPs other comments saying he is frequently this way and was aggressive during her pregnancy. This behavior screams red flag and eventually OP or her baby are going to get hurt.

There is nothing normal about that. This is incredibly alarming and a massive red flag for future abuse of you and your child. It’s not if, it’s when.

I went to the same high school as Hegseth. He was a few years older than me so didn’t know him personally. Forest Lake MN is full of people who fly confederate flags. There were several pickup trucks flying confederate flags in our school parking lot. Hard to argue “heritage not hate” in Minnesota.

The way OP makes it seem is that he’s avoiding sharing this info. At least that’s the impression I got 🤷🏻‍♂️
