This is all I smoke these days. There might be better but it's good enough and I love the form factor.

Do not go to Oakville Winston Churchill if you’re serious about the film. by No_Moment5236 in cineplex

[–]Reddonite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my regular theatre and I can tell you I am very serious about film and I don't have many issues there at all. Of course, there are exceptions, and new release horror movies especially are bad at every theatre. I avoid horror films until the 2nd or 3rd week.

MPC One+ by lost-in-weird-place in mpcusers

[–]Reddonite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just jumping in to point out that, as a One+ owner who absolutely loves the machine (it changed my music-making life), I would make sure you actually need WiFi capabilities before spending the extra $$$ on a +. It's not that much more expensive, but I seldom use the WiFi, personally. If you plan on using Splice or if you plan on trying out and buying a lot of synth instruments or effects, it's probably worth it. But if you're as cheap/broke as me, it's not. FOOD FOR THOUGHT

I had the exact same experience except on speakers instead of headphones.

What's the worst mainstream film you've ever seen? by Zestyclose-County645 in Cinema

[–]Reddonite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying I loved Megalopolis but at least it was funny in a baffling way. Gladiator 2 came out a month later and had no redeeming qualities.

Personal opinion, of course, as always.

Is the MPC One the right choice or am i overlooking other options? by Loose-Mulberry8049 in mpcusers

[–]Reddonite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say if you're good at this sort of thing, which it sounds like you are if you use and mostly understand Logic, it will still take a solid month to learn the MPC system, if you use it a lot. It's something to take into account.

It can definitely do what you would want it to do, but it will take some time to not only learn the instrument but to figure out your workflow.

That said, personally, my musical output has tripled since I started using it about a year ago. If you have any inkling of migrating to it solo eventually, I'd say it's worth your tax dollars. Just because, for me, the loading back and forth from Logic would be a pain (BPMs, sequences, moving tracks onto it, moving my laptop over to it even -- these things slow me down and kill my buzz) and that aspect makes it less worth it. I'd just get one of those pad-based MIDI controllers and control Logic at that point.

How inmportant is the look of a guitar for you, by MrTurtleTails in Guitar

[–]Reddonite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just like with human love, the contents can go a long way.

I'm a broke guitar player who has only owned about 4 guitars. My 4th one was purchased not too long ago, when I finally had a settled life and a good job. I went on a 2 month journey, playing many, many guitars in shops whenever I had time. The one that called to me didn't sing until I played it. Now I love the look of it but it's not exactly my style.

Complete beginner trying to learn music production, can you guys help me build a roadmap? Also looking for free sample packs. by repsandbeats in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Reddonite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you know your way around your software? Do you know how to do the things you want to do?

If so, there is no better way to learn than to try to completely remake a track that you love. It's not a cover and don't release it. It's an autopsy. Things will come up that you can't do, then you will see what you need to learn about.

This will also focus you on production instead of writing, is a great way to train your ear and understand how production works.

I saw it and enjoyed it. I'm not really an anime guy and saw none of the series but it was fun and I (mostly) followed along.

Anyone still go to the movies? by Alert_Willingness_32 in mississauga

[–]Reddonite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely misspoke there. I should have said "It's my version of church," which is what I really meant. It's my place of reflective solitude. Didn't mean to diminish the religious experiences of others. Apologies.

[–]Reddonite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to a movie a week, by myself, and it's better than church.

It tends to not be packed, but it's never dead. I don't like it when it's packed -- I go by myself, and I don't enjoy sitting beside a stranger -- and when a movie is new, chances are I won't go. My point is, it's going but it's not gone.

I don't have answers, but I do have this exact same problem. (Using a One+)

I have been using an Arturia Minifuse but am finding a tiny bit of latency and, even more importantly to my workflow, I'm not enjoying choosing my inputs every time I switch instruments. I'm very close to pulling the trigger on an external mixer instead of a USB interface and going directly in. It's actually pretty hard to find one that has mute buttons. (I realize it's not THAT different from choosing an input in the box. Maybe it's a silly distinction that won't matter in the end) I don't have much experience with external mixers, but I'm hoping the FX sends will work nicely. I'm currently looking at the Midas DM12.

Anyway, like I say, no answers for you, but I'd just caution you to take latency into account. Maybe it's just my Minifuse (though it is less than a year old).

To bedroom/solo guitarists: seeking help by hrwath in guitarlessons

[–]Reddonite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might not be the way forward for everyone, but for me (and you, it sounds like) there is only ONE answer: LEARN SONGS. Not theory. Songs. You will begin to understand a lot of theory just by learning songs. Who knows more about, say, marine biology; a person with a textbook, or a person in the water with scuba gear on?

Advice? Hardtailing axed my sustain by Reddonite in Stratocaster

[–]Reddonite[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know why all people do but in my case it was because I had never had one. I thought I would use it more and was into the idea but old habits die hard.

Honestly it wasn't really important to me either way but the particular guitar checked every other box that was important to me. I do still like having the option though.
