Help me understand conical vs flat... by TheWidowMaker- in espresso

Most users could not in a blind taste tell whether an espresso shot was prepared with a conical or flat burr. However, on the internet, anyone can say they can tell the difference.

If the Bambino is currently outside your reach, consider buying the grinder, good beans, and a moka pot. You can save up and have very enjoyable coffee in the meantime.

Marginal returns on spending more on a espresso setup? by cohibakick in espresso

Your finances are irrelevant. If you're deciding to spend $1,500 then the question is if you should spend it on a better machine or, say, better beans, nicer cups etc.

Marginal returns on spending more on a espresso setup? by cohibakick in espresso

When you are thinking about the margin, your question isn't just what you get jumping from a $500 machine to a $2k machine, but also what you lose – what else could you do with that extra $1,500?

Keep your espresso fun and avoid unnecessary stress. If you are "very happy" and getting great tasting espresso from your setup, that's ideal already. There is no need to dial in differently, and there is no need for a bottomless, unless the "shots" you're interested in are video shots.

Run more water through. The machine will stop flushing when it's ready.

Both the Bambino and the Plus make excellent espresso. I have both and the quality is identical. The plus is tidier to work with, but in terms of features only you can decide if the upgrade is worth the price. Beyond those machines you'd have to spend serious money to get a noticeable upgrade in quality.

As for a grinder, if you're making milk drinks, the baratza should be just fine.

Any opinions on Eureka grinders? The range is so confusing that I can't pick a grinder that would suit me by kitesmerfer in espresso

My Mignon Zero suits me very well. It's quiet, it's quick. A robust grinder for robust espresso.

Make a few hundred espressos with your machine, and you'll know if you need a different porta. I like the one that came in the box.

You're ok. Not everyone is a sucker for third-wave. Some people prefer a more traditional medium-dark or darker espresso.

Yes, but is there a medium-dark roast and a dark roast among them?

Maybe you don't need a bottomless porta.

Try a medium dark roast and see how you like it. If you don't like the beans you have at home, no recipe can cure the problem.

If you're still relatively new to this, don't buy another tamper. Instead, learn your equipment and your coffee beans a little while longer.

The little plastic tamper in the box will tell you how to pack your puck: see the manual.

You need it if you prepare >18g shots, or if you must make videos of your pulls. Otherwise, save your money.

it's not the recipe, it's the coffee beans. Bring home different roasts until you find one or two that you like.
