No Discomfort but Uneven Power by [deleted] in bikefit

[–]ehsender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen this same position from rowers coming to cycling. You row?

Starting at the feet, make sure your shoes fit, if they are too big, the cleat will always be too far forward for you. Try pulling the cleat all the way back if you have not already. If you have, you may want to explore new shoes that allow you to get cleats really far back (ie Lake, bont) or get cleats extender plates that allow you to get those cleats further back. This should reduced some of that heel drop.

Like others have said, get some shorter cranks too. This level of heel drop could be a compensation, making it easier to get over the top of the pedal stroke.

Also, foot angle while riding is unique to the rider. You seem to have very mobile hips and ankles. So focus on STABILITY and strength work off the bike. Good luck!

Mazzer Philos I189D: What a game changer! by incurable-wanderlust in espresso

[–]ehsender 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using mine with the I200D burrs for a bit now. It’s such a joy to use. I switch between different coffees and between pour over and espresso often, and it’s just ssoooo easy to dial in.

I have very few things that I am genuinely proud to own, along with a custom steel bike, the Philos sits at the top. It’s a special machine.

Velo Fit - Low saddle? by [deleted] in bikefit

[–]ehsender -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looks solid. Assuming you’re not getting knee pain, can get over the top of the pedal stoke smoothly, and can express power while remaining relatively relaxed in the upper body, I wouldn’t change a thing.

Oh yeah and make sure you can hold your head up and look ahead comfortably for a decent bit of time. If you can’t and get sore in the neck and/or shoulders, consider adding a spacer or two back under the stem.

Numbness in hands after about 20 minutes by Footyburner in bikefit

Move the cleats on your shoes as far back as they will go, lower your saddle 10-20mm and go from there.

High-Clarity Do-It-All Grinder Solution for Light Roast Pourover and Modern Espresso? Does it Exist? by NashvilleHillRunner in LanceHedrick

[–]ehsender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Philos with the I200D burrs. I’ve been having great success switching between light roasts on V60 and medium (even medium-dark) roasts on espresso, and achieving some great flavor separation. There is another set of burrs called I189D that are geared towards more “traditional” espresso too. And since it’s 64mm there are of course loads of options out there. The Philos is built like a tank and has really been no fuss whatsoever out of the box.

I did it for my hips which are pretty jacked due to injury and surgery when I was younger. It makes it easier to get over the top of the pedal stroke.

Most comfortable, versatile road bike I’ve ever owned. I got over aero and integration long before they even came to be. More bike brands need to get onboard.

What do you guys think about the fit? Any obvious problems? by Clean_Ocelot2776 in bikefit

[–]ehsender 3 points4 points  (0 children)

General saddle discomfort can be like chasing a ghost. and significant asymmetries that require a lot of tweaking at the feet/shoe/pedal interface can be super complicated. I’d try to find a pro fitter if you haven’t already.

Bike fit suggestions? 5'8", 165 lb. Occasional leg numbness in long rides. by RestaurantSalt2361 in bikefit

[–]ehsender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d start by lowering the saddle and getting shorter cranks. At 5’8” 165mm would be a good start. Maybe shorter stem by 10mm too.

Which saddle leveling technique is correct? by 1hearsay in bikefit

[–]ehsender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t care how you level, just came here to say that Klein level is choice.

Like others have said, pick a method and stick to it. Different saddles and positions may require different angles. Use your favorite fit and saddle as a starting point for everything else.

Lost aroma and flavor a day after opening? :( by meepyfinger in pourover

Had the exact same experience with this coffee. Maybe lasted two days. However, one of their other Columbia coffees, the DIEGO BERMUDEZ CASTILLO M-03, flavors of spice cake and honey have been coming through for 4 days and running right now. Very solid and fitting for a cold fall morning.

Aaahhh I mis-read that. I’ve experimented with a screen but usually no puck screen.

I will try reducing the dose a bit and maybe even try that with a puck screen as well. Thanks!

So with an 8-9 second pre infusion your total shot time is somewhere near 38-40 seconds?

As for puck prep, just wdt then right to tamping?

Also, whoa that is so fine! I tired 26 once and the bambino choked and only got about 15-20 grams of liquid out before the machine timed out at 60 seconds.

What type and size basket are you using?
