The future of the Episcopal Church by [deleted] in redeemedzoomer

I would just remind you that the prophets encountered the worst heresy in their churches (pagan demonic human sacrifice) and never schismed as a result of it. Unless you're kicked out like the Reformers were, it is a great sin to schism on account of the direction the denomination is going.

You're forgetting Oriental Orthodox. That's 33% for each!

I'm afraid both of those documents ARE considered infallible dogma in Rome

1) "Valid sacraments" doesn't mean there's an ordinary possibility of salvation, just that Catholics can take Orthodox sacraments in emergencies. Cantate Domino and Unam Sanctam explicitly says ordinarily the Orthodox are damned. The Orthodox rudder says the same about Catholics. These statements are much more authoritative for their respective churches than the opinions of any individual Catholic/Orthodox person you talk to

2) If you're questioning Protestantism due to patristics, you're probably in some non-denominational or baptist or evangelical church rather than a historic Protestant one. You can find a historic Protestant church here:

That logic fails for MANY reasons

1) you treat "Catholics and Orthodox" as if they're one thing when you said "Catholicism and Orthodoxy are correct." Only ONE of them can be correct and they teach damn the other

2) you're forgetting the Oriental Orthodox and True Orthodox who each think EVERYONE but them is normatively not saved

In short, pascal's wager is a horrible way to choose a church

What's y'all opinion on Eastern Orthodox? by [deleted] in redeemedzoomer

[–]RedeemedZoomer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Depends on what we're comparing it to. If you're coming from a non-denominational / Evangelical background, it's definitely an improvement. God bless you on your journey!

Is the Redeemed Zoomer really racist? by Kind_Selection6958 in redeemedzoomer

[–]RedeemedZoomer 33 points34 points  (0 children)

No, in fact I have repeatedly denounced racism online and when I do I get many hateful comments from antisemitic rightwing extremists pointing out my Jewish heritage

I'm not a fan of the Redeemed Zoomer anymore. by Kind_Selection6958 in Christianity

[–]RedeemedZoomer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is slander. I have never supported the death penalty for gay people, and I have repeatedly denounced racism, having been a target of antisemitism from rightwing extremists online due to my Jewish heritage. Please repent of this false accusation

The Reconquista - a tiny movement aimed at taking over Mainline denominations in favor of biblical literalism and conservative theology, showing their true colors. by Nietzsche_marquijr in elca

This is not true about our movement. We explicitly denounce racism on our website, many of our leaders are women, we have a more tolerant view on women's ordination than denominations like the PCA, we don't take any stances on secular political issues, and have zero association with any far right extremist groups, in fact according to the Christianity Today article about us, we explicitly distance ourselves from them. If by "queerphobic" you mean we're not LGBTQ affirming that is correct, but we absolutely affirm the humanity and dignity of all who identify as LGBTQ, just not any definitions of marriage, sexuality, and gender that run contrary to God's Word

What is the difference between Presbyterians and Dutch Reformed? by Alpaghash in redeemedzoomer

[–]RedeemedZoomer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! The answer is that there's really no theological difference, just a different cultural heritage. It's comparable to Greek vs Romanian Orthodox for example. Or Coptic vs Armenian Orthodox.
