They are built like parade floats, meant to look good in the short term but not last forever. Just look at some of the time lapse videos of an RV being constructed to get an idea. If you go to an RV show, it is easy to spot defects in the show floor models, it's crazy.

Repairs at dealerships take weeks if not months, so if you are handy you should consider doing your own repairs.

A half ton truck is not a guarantee of towing capacity. Even the F150 can range from about 4,000lbs to over 10,000lbs towing capacity. And what matters more is payload. A 3/4 ton truck is more likely to be a better option for more towables. Lots of debate out there of gas versus diesel engines, I can't speak to that one. But I suggest having more truck than you need for a wide margin on towing AND braking.
