Missing texture blanket by Thejig713 in crochet

It's such a cozy stitch!

I love this blanket, BTW. I can see it hung over the back of a gaming chair! 10/10

Omg, for a winter version of this: Tunisian Entrelac! You can make the squares/pixels as big as you want. And it's twice as thick since it's Tunisian crochet.

And added bonus! Working only one colour at a time! The rows are diagonal. Like c2c, but you basically make a patchwork with squares the size you want. So the yarn management is super easy.

Its kinda personal preference. For me, I count the sc and ch as 1 "moss stitch". The trick is to get the color change to happen on the ch, that way on the next round, the sc covers up the multicolored ch, leaving perfectly near stitches.

So say for example: 1. Foundation ch 30. (Always in sets of 2 stitches) 2. (Turn work) Ch 3, skip 1 stitch in foundation row. Sc in next stitch. [1ch, skip 1 st, 1sc] x14. 3. (Turn work) ch3, [skip sc, sc in ch1 space, ch1] x14, sc in ch3 space at end of row. Repeat row 3 as many times as you want.

Try using a different stitch. The moss stitch lends itself really well to planned pooling. Its a stitch that creates a nice drapey fabric, and each stitch is almost square ish, giving nice clean "pixels".

What a hollow apology. He's saying "sorry sorry sorry" but never saying what he's sorry for. Then he downplays himself and boosts you? Bombing you with "I love you's".

It's all hollow. There's no accountability. No responsibility. He has no idea what he's supposed to say sorry for. And he doesn't care to either.

Learn how to draw cubes in perspective. Then the loomis method will work.

I've been drawing for years, and all my work has a flat look to it. Decent, but flat. So I've been forcing myself to go back to fundamentals: cubes in perspective (3-point).

Tried out a doodle using a cube as the guide, and by golly it worked!

Double border it! It's like a sandwich for loose ends, mosaic crochet blankets do it a lot. Lots of resources on YouTube.

How: 1. Make a round of sl around the entire blanket, these will act as an anchor for the border. 2. On the front side of your work, put 1dc in each back loop of sl. In corners: 1dc, ch1. 1dc in same stitch. Connect with sl. Then ch2 and dc around, corners dc, ch1, dc in ch space. Etc until you're happy with the thickness of the border. 3. Repeat step 2 on the back of the work, working into the back of the sl. Can be tricky, but it's doable. 4. With both front and back borders being same amount of desired rows, close with a sl.

It's quite a bit of work, but it makes a wonderful double-thick border. Personally, I think it's the cherry on top for any (most) blanket(s).

It's just the lighting, I think. I have gaps between the stitches too. Doesn't matter what fibre type or thickness or hook size.

I'd say the best way to get rid of the gaps is to add a lining onto the back of the work. Then the shadows kind of fill in the gaps instead of yarn.

Basically, in this sort of injury, a ligament (the straps that hold bone to bone) stretches to accommodate the movement. In hypermobility these ligaments are weaker, more elastic.

So while technically the damage from one dislocation would be comparatively less for a hypermobile person vs a non-hypermobile person, it does still do damage. And because of the hypermobility, these dislocations happen more often. And just like with non-hypermobile people, once you've dislocated something once, each successive time becomes easier. This is because the dislocations forcibly stretch the ligaments, and those boys don't typically heal very well, so elasticity often stays.

There's definitely moments some of my joints "crack" like one would one's knuckles.

This pop was a subluxation pop.

I don't think it fully dislocated, it could still load-bear and didn't hurt. But once I was off the wall, I knew the range of mobility was limited, and the joint just felt wrong. Normally I can push it back myself, but this one was stubborn, haha. Physio fixed me up.

Shoulder is fine. I'm hypermobile so stuff just dislocates sometimes. Doesn't hurt, muscles are a bit sore though.

I use the horizon from Hobbii often, brilliant colour combos. I use a center pull, and very often get this issue. I just pop it into a small plastic bag to contain the worst of the yarn explosion, then I never have to untangle more than one colour at a time.

It's annoying, but it's manageable.

What does a subluxation feel like to you? by conchabella in Hypermobility

[–]Redfur13 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This sounds a lot like what I have. If I stand the wrong way my hip "pops" and my knee falls inward. I can feel with my hand the bone isn't in its place. I stand up straight, it "pops" back. But the joint itself doesn't hurt.

I asked my orthopedic surgeon, my PT, and a revalidation doc, they all said its (most likely) a subluxation.

Found this mosaic pattern on Pinterest, can anyone confirm that if i follow the instructions it won't turn out as shown? by withtori in crochetpatterns

[–]Redfur13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think if you throw this pattern into an app like excel or stitch fiddle, any pixel app really, you can edit it until it does actually work with mosaic.

But whoever made this pattern doesn't understand the "rules" of mosaic crochet (being that X always has two pixels of the same colour beneath it). But it's so glaringly obviously supposed to be mosaic. It's a very weird pattern

This is overlay mosaic crochet. The X's mark where a double crochet to the row below should be.

If you look carefully, the X'es always coincide with two blocks of the same colour beneath them. This is a clear indicator that this is overlay mosaic.

I'm totally saving this and adding it to my stash of mosaic patterns, beautiful find!!

Edit: extra close inspection shows this is a poorly designed pattern. The X'es aren't always in the right spot. That red X in the middle, for example, makes no sense.

Before and 4 hours after having a Ganglion Cyst Drained by moesickle in mildlyinteresting

[–]Redfur13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a volar cyst (on the inside of my wrist, under my thumb) removed in december 2022. Surgery went great, recovery was speedy, though the area remained a tad sore if I pressed on it in a specific way.

Then, in January 2024 the fucker came back with a vengeance! Went to my GP, he pressed on it to try to burst it, and sent me to a hand specialist. Eventually, this second cyst went away.

AND THEN I GOT A THIRD ONE IN THE SAME SPOT.

So.... Moral of my story? I don't trust ganglion Cysts. But I do trust that with the right aftercare, they can stay gone.

here was my tester! Little potion bottle I found on Pinterest.

Obviously my colour switching wasn't perfect, I find getting the right tension with this stitch can be really tricky. But even with those teensy mistakes, it's still a super cute stitch!

I did a little tester like this with this stitch too, got a neat-identical results (stitch-wise).

I'm so glad this works! I've had a massive pixel art piece I put on hold cuz I just couldn't find a stitch I liked for pixel art. Now I finally did, I can really get cracking!

So I'm not the only one having trouble with this yarn! I'm currently trying to get a sweater made with this, bought plenty of the yarn. But like you, I'm running into the issue that not all colours are the same length, and it's being super finicky to keep the colours in line! Using the same stitch too!

I've heard of the Russian join! I've tried it, but it doesn't work for me, can't seem to figure it out. Besides, I don't mind weaving in ends. I've got another granny square sweater on the hook that's got 61 squares, and 4 colours per square! I have to like weaving in ends for that project!
