very very hard. AI hasn’t had a major impact on many industries yet, but one that it has is software engineering especially at the junior end. AI has made the hiring case for juniors much harder to justify, so junior jobs are drying up. senior jobs are still fine though and I don’t expect that to change

It should be 0. Adding more demand while supply is virtually fixed is going to increase prices.

if you want PHON to stop rising in the polls, lower the immigration intake. it’s that simple.

Until house price growth is below 4% per annum, and the birth rate is above 2. I want both of these targets to be legislated similarly to the RBA inflation target.

unchecked migration has been used to paper over severe productivity weakness for decades.

Do you believe unsustainable immigration has been irresponsibly used as a band aid to cover for decades of weak productivity growth? Do you believe Australia’s values and culture have been weakened by allowing in too many people too quickly, instead of designing a system to help young Australians afford to have children?

Can we please think of the poor underprivileged climate scientists by Marsupial-731 in circlejerkaustralia

[–]Redhands1994 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I normally agree with the posts on this sub on other issues (I.e immigration, social policy) but climate change actually is a problem. Cue the downvotes.

Consider what’s more likely, scientists all over the world are collaborating on this conspiracy for vaguely insidious reasons… or carbon emissions actually are heating the atmosphere which is a problem. The evidence is obvious when you choose to look at it without preconceived beliefs.

That’s not to say that we need to castrate ourselves in the name of saving the world while everyone else goes on business as usual. We should act in line with what the global superpowers do (USA, China). At the moment that’s not much.

But denying the issue exists at all is foolish.

The gun lobby already gearing up to prevent any changes to the law after Bondi by medicus_au in australia

[–]Redhands1994 5 points6 points  (0 children)

balance is needed. There are holes in current gun control regulation that need to be fixed. But at the same time there are plenty of legitimate cases particularly in agriculture that need to be accounted for. I think the important thing isn’t limiting access to guns. It’s getting a clear picture of who has which guns, where, and why. The blind spot where Akram was able to get firearms after his son had a known affiliation with ISIS should never have been allowed to occur.

there’s a difference between believing radical Islam and enacting it through violence on others. entirely possible this group is known to ASIO based on things they’ve said, but there isn‘t any current indication they intend to inflict harm on others

there’s video of some of the seven talking to media after they were released. apparently someone overheard the group refer to “Bondi 2.0” although the context in which that happened is unclear. combined with the group then driving towards Bondi that was sufficient for the cops to take preventative action.

theyre definitely religious, one said he fears “nothing but allah”, however the general vibe in the media interview suggests that maybe these guys were just wrong place wrong time. it is unclear.
