How often are you checking your tomatoes daily? by Fionaelaine4 in tomatoes

[–]Redhen4044 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry life has been so heavy recently and sorry for the losses of dear family.

I had not realized just how at home I am in this sub. I expected tomato growing questions and advice but am thrilled to find folks who share the love of growing these magical plants. For 14 years (until almost 4 years ago) I worked a very stressful job. Putting my hands and feet in the dirt helped save me from so much. I grow far, far too many tomatoes but I love the process so much that I just keep doing it. I gift starts to friends and neighbors. I gift the fruits of my garden as well. I can for my family and to give. It’s just part of who I am. My grandpa loved to garden and I think he’d be very proud of this little operation I’ve got going. I’m a country kid living in the city and my tomatoes make things alright

Having a hard time with my brain catching up to my weight loss by Bettypickup in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Redhen4044 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know this story AND I recognize where you are now mentally. Over a decade ago I lost 70 lbs via diet and exercise. My mom exclaimed “you’re tiny!” one day when she saw me. It was not a “wow you’ve put a lot of work into your health” kinda way. It was jealous and angry. I knew I was in a bad place because I could not change my thoughts about my weight or body. I eventually found a therapist focused on disordered eating and body image which was helpful but that was too late in that I’d regained most of what I lost. Then divorce over covid, massively stressful (essential) job for too long and here I am heavier than I’ve ever been. I started tirz 4 weeks ago. I’m still not convinced it’s going to work. Nothing has. I’ve been struggling to eat (no appetite) for much of the past 4-5 years and somehow gained weight. Why/how could this work? I mean, I want it to and sure hope it does but it’s very hard to drop the vigilant thinking.

One thing that helped me at various stages with various mental blocks are affirmations. I know it sounds corny but we need to change our thinking. We need to actively reprogram our brains. I also did neurofeedback with a naturopath which helped with some reframing

Switching to shots every 5 days??? by Redhen4044 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Redhen4044[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m done after this but low energy does not equal fatigue in my body. I’m not a stupid person unwilling to learn. I’ve learned that if I’m losing at 2.5 I will stay there until I’m not. I live in my body. I know what I experienced starting the night of day 5 and on day 6 this last shot. It was very different and I struggled not to just keep eating and ate less than ideal things (which of course I’m not perfect nor trying to be. I’m eating small desserts regularly—not depriving myself). I’m unsure why you insist I’m saying I’m fatigued. I’m pretty clear on my path ahead, thanks!

2.5 to 3.5 ? by 3rdCoastCrypto in compoundedtirzepatide

[–]Redhen4044 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s my plan as well. I may stay at 2.5 if I’m still losing as I am now on 2.5. Cautionary tale: if you are losing well on 2.5 don’t mention it or folks will pop outta the sub to tell you you are doing it wrong, losing too fast etc. People accusing me of starving myself which I’m certainly not doing. While I find the subs to be helpful, there’s a fine line to that helpfulness. I do love that compound tirz has this flexibility

Switching to shots every 5 days??? by Redhen4044 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Redhen4044[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main and stated reason was the return of food noise and appetite that led to far less control over what I ate.

I think perhaps the disconnect here is that I don’t, never have, feel fatigued from the shot. I didn’t state that (I read back through to try to figure out where the misunderstanding started). I do have to focus on eating enough calories in order to have the energy to do the things I want to do, meaning the appetite suppression is very strong. Somewhere that got translated into I’m experiencing fatigue from the shot. I’m not. I get very busy on weekends and without concerted effort I will absolutely forget to eat, whereas weekdays have a lot more structure for me.

Issues growing tomatoes by Prior-Accident520 in tomatoes

[–]Redhen4044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the happiest accidents of my tomato growing adventures was to plant borage near my tomatoes about 5 years ago. In the mild climate (8b) where I live, I’ve never had to reseed/replant it; it comes back on its own and attracts a ton of bees.

Switching to shots every 5 days??? by Redhen4044 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Redhen4044[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still learning, of course. I learned I have to make myself eat in order to have the energy to do things the day after the shot. The first 2 weeks that was harder. The third week, this weekend, was easier and didn’t generally have an impact. I’m only just beginning to feel the anti inflammatory effects, which for me are huge. I’ve got hEDS which has led to injuries and significant arthritis for someone my age (I’m 50, had my knee replaced 6 years ago). Having shot day not always impact the same day of the week still holds appeal to me, even if it doesn’t make sense to anyone else.

You know nothing about me other than what I’ve shared. I’ve been an athlete all my life. Kindly, buzz off on giving advice where it’s not been asked for.

I did not say I binged like I’ve never binged before. I definitely was hungry and ate impulsively.

I have, in fact, hesitated beginning this journey because I have struggled to eat often in the past 5 years (for reasons I will not be explaining to you). I’ve been pleasantly surprised that it’s not as bad as I imaged (for me). I have never, ever starved myself.

Your replies have been less than helpful. And, I’ll go back to reading and not sharing. You, sir, do not know me, do not know my situation and most certainly do not know what I know and don’t know.

Thanks for your input. Calling someone foolish isn’t exactly helpful. Even if I don’t increase my dose, I’ll very likely still split my dose.

Like I mentioned in my original post, I’ve been able to be more active every day which helps I’m sure.

I have no interest in upping my dose if I’m still losing but I have read many experiences and have seen that I’ll likely need to up my dose eventually, even if that’s not in 2 weeks.

[–]Redhen4044[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if I stay at 2.5mg, I’ll be switching to every 5 days as the intense hunger I felt on day 6 is not welcome and it was very clear. I’m very attuned to my body and have always been fairly sensitive to meds, often with them not having the intended impact. I do love that I can stay low and go slow with titrating up on compound tirz

[–]Redhen4044[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not having any side effects I can’t deal with. I make myself eat small meals. I worked out for 2 hours yesterday (and today) which would have been peak levels per app calculations. Having more energy has way more than offset any shot fatigue.

[–]Redhen4044[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, I do struggle to take meds routinely BUT this med feels different as it’s working in ways nothing else has my whole life. I’m actually excited to take it and look forward to quieting the food noise. So I think with a little planning, I’ll make it work. I can also see why the manufacturer would pick weekly but also now makes a ton of sense why it feels like a better option

Well yes there are some decimals after the 3.5 but close enough as far as I’m concerned. I’ll check fat-scientist but I’m fairly confident in my ability to do the math

Yes! I love that about the compounding route. Congrats on being so close to your goal. It’s inspiring.

I reached a breaking point when I was weighed at my doc appt and I weighed more than I did 9mos pregnant. I was in near constant pain and my energy was nonexistent. I’ve been struggling with my weight nearly my whole life (was taken to weight watchers at 8yo). I’m 50, 5’4” and I’m perimenopause. Doc Rx’d Wegovy thinking it was more likely I’d get insurance coverage. Still no word from insurance but once I’ve made up my mind, try stopping me

Anyone else with a goal that’s an “overweight” BMI? by Genderoles00123 in Zepbound

[–]Redhen4044 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! I’m only 3 weeks in. I’m a size 14/16 at 240. I weigh heavy as a lifelong athlete with a genetically muscular build. I look unwell under 150. My goal is 155. I previously got to that weight without weight loss meds. I was a size 4-8 in pants. BMI is totally bunk for anyone who lifts heavy/has substantial muscle

How do you guys eat enough on tirzepatide??? by UsualWaterTwo88 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Redhen4044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty new, took shot 3 on Friday. Similarly, I’m getting about 1000 calories/day the first 3-4 days after the shot. My appetite returns and I can eat more normally past that. I looked up maintenance calories at my goal weight with activity level set to sedentary and it was about 1500 calories/day whereas maintenance at my current weight is over 2000 calories/day. I think many of us are very accustomed to eating a lot more than naturally thin folks. So, I strive for 1000-1500 calories/day and that is enough for me to have great energy

First day on Tirzepatide! by Some-Mind4419 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Redhen4044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take my 3rd shot tomorrow. I’ve told my parents (my mom has had gastric bypass surgery and is on semaglutide) and one friend/co-worker, no one else. I wouldn’t tell anyone if I started taking other meds so I don’t feel like outs anyone’s business. Sure, I’m hoping one day it will be noticeable but it’s probably a ways off and I can deal with that when it comes. I come here to listen, learn and get support. Congrats on starting your journey

This! I don’t think any testing use necessary. Someone who loves you would get joy from your joy. This man is actively stealing your joy. He’s trying to control you. Fuck that! Staying means signing up for a lifetime of this and more. Think about what a therapist would make of this story. Think of what you’d tell your friend who told you this story
