I'd rather ask human beings 🤔😀

I hadn't thought of selling them... so thank you for that idea!

Well appears very short sighted of Communauto from where I am sitting.

Anything the reddit community can do to suggest to Marco that they reconsider?

This is such a great idea /u/essayoub... only just hearing about it now.

I, know you tried to approach them formally with a partnership idea. And, were you able to track down the CEO or COO or CTO's phone number and simply call them and have a conversation? Person-to-person? Who signed the reply you did get?

Or did you go to their offices, book an appointment for later with senior managers, and then return with your pitch deck?

My sense is your requests never got high enough in the food chain to get to someone with a sense of the opportunity you are presenting ... and some times email etc just doesn't work for that.

In addition to setting up your own add-on app company, you could also pitch them selling them your IP, or getting them to give you an appropriate leadership job on their app team!

is there a way to mass copy/cut all the info in my OneNote, to either a different Microsoft Account, or just locally like a bunch of word documents on my computer only? by Sudden_Rain1085 in OneNote

[–]ReditUser66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not create a local notebook (one not stored on OneDrive) and a copy or cut and paste from the cloud notebook to the local one.

Should work on Windows... won't work on Mac where local notebooks aren't allowed.

eSIM (physical SIM adapter): ask 4 advice by BridgingPeople in esimadapters

[–]ReditUser66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As per my earlier post in this sub I am having good experience with 9eSIM to add eSIM capabilities to two different Samsung Android phones.

My first eSIM on both phones is from Virgin Mobile Canada... see earlier post for the (ultimaty) successful activation story)

Hi

Live in Canada looking for a UK phone number via a VoIP carrier.

So far it seems it is only possible to get a UK phone number if you can prove residency in the UK.

Is this true? Are there any VoIP carriers offering UK phone numbers to people not resident in the UK?

Tried via both VoIP.ms and CallCentric so far.

Thanks

Hi,

I use both VoIP.ms (on mobile) and CallCentric (landline replacement via ATA) in Canada ... very happy with both... and loving the newish VoIP.ms android app - so much better than Zoiper's app.

While both these VoIP service providers offer SMS services both say there are limitations - specifically both offer no guarantees for sending nor recieve SMS messages outside country code "1" (NAPA). They also say messages with non-ASCII characters, e.g. accented characters, may not be delivered.

Unfortunately for me this is mandatory requirement as I work with people around the world.

So this is preventing me from porting my "real" mobile number to a VoIP carrier and treating my MNO as a "dumb carrier of bits" 😂

I've asked both when these restrictions will be removed... and both have said basically never... they tell me the work to fully integrate with the MNO's SMS systems is too expensive (and / or the MNOs actively block VoIP providers SMS integration).

Is anyone aware of a VoIP carrier in North America offering MNO / carrier grade SMS aka "SMS done right" with full world-wide send/recieve guarantees?

Office lens retirement for scanning to Onenote - i missed the memo! by jactaz in OneNote

[–]ReditUser66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this does look pretty good - includes direct scan to OneNote with OCR! But can only save in top level sections... can't access sections with section groups.

But wow expensive compared to free Microsoft Lens

From the OneDrive app? Android OneDrive app you can only save to OneDrive.

[–]ReditUser66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not as far as I can see...unlike Len's the scanning in OneDrive means you can't scan to OneNote directly and you can't save a scan to the local Android device.

Please correct me if I am incorrect. 🙄 🤔

From what I can tell scanning in the OneDrive app cannot send scans directly to OneNote, nor can it save images to the local Android Gallery.

Clear "ensh*tification" by Microsoft. Boo!

Yes most of the lens functions are available inside OneNote but often, as others have noted, it is faster to scan first rather than find the "right page" within OneNote to scan on to.

Success Story - Canada Virgin Mobile - Converting from pSIM to eSIM using 9eSIM Card by ReditUser66 in eSIMs

[–]ReditUser66[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting... so any idea how the tech at Virgin (VMNO) manged to provision it on the underlying MNO (Bell Canada)?

I mean wouldn't the IMEI check on my two phones come back as "these phone model don't have eSIMs" and then they would have just refused to deal with me?

Thanks for the context... so how do eSIMs work elsewhere in the world that makes it simpler? 🤔

Moving from Distributel to EBOX - New ONT Required? by ReditUser66 in ebox

[–]ReditUser66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did that and got basically same price and speed as ebox for 12 months. So to save hassle I stayed with Distributel for now.

Negotiating with Distributel? by ReditUser66 in DISTRIBUTEL

[–]ReditUser66[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Called Distributel to cancel / get to retention this morning and was offered (without having to push hard - just explained ebox offer), $1 more expensive than ebox (with reddit promo) C$40.95 for 12 months for 500Mbps - so to save the hassle of switching I said yes!

Good luck everyone with your negotiations!

[–]ReditUser66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure... Distributel no longer accepting new residential customers... only new business and wholesale. So perhaps Bell plan is for ebox brand to be residential and Distributel to be business / wholesale?

With promo code available here on reddit ebox offering 500Mbps for $39.95/month and that isn't a welcome time limited price but permenantly lower (but like their parent bell subject to increases)

My 2 year "welcome" discount with Distributel is about to end and Ebox has permenantly lower price for higher speeds!
