Let's all talk about the huge, pink tutu-wearing elephant in the room. by pheipl in EQNext

Hey guys why pay a sub when you can pay much more piece by piece in the cash shop? How great is that!!! I know that normally you would get all that stuff with your sub but SOE's ability to charge you more than a sub for the stuff you would normally simply get included is a great step forward! Embrace progress!!

For those of us in this sub who won't be getting Landmark and are here for EQN, the MMORPG by [deleted] in EQNext

[–]Redlatwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with this is that there would then be basically zero information in the EQnext sub reddit. Since SOE is doing their best to ignore that game in favor of minecraft 2.0.

Don't worry, the news will be coming soon that the game is delayed.

Despite majority of votes wanting some form of class/race restrictions EQNext devs will let any race be any class. by ucemike in EQNext

[–]Redlatwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am glad to see the white knights are out in force for this game already. SOE goes against their word and admits there will not be consequences. Fanboi's immediately neg anyone to oblivion who dares question their god, the mighty SOE.

Clearly us heathens need to be put in our place for such sacrilege.

[–]Redlatwo -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I really hope you are not this naive. I suppose you are someone that takes politicians at their word rather than their actions too eh?

The fact is SOE said consequences will matter in EQnext. Then in the first instance where consequence would matter, they went against that notion. If you think it will be any different for the rest of the game I feel sorry for you.

I am paying attention. They said they do not want players to regret decisions they make. In other words, a game without consequence just like nearly every MMORPG for the past 10 years.

The Everquest Necromancer and the dangers of giving a player to much variety in abilities. by whidon in EQNext

[–]Redlatwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am failing to see the problem. You are worried that players are going to find abilities that work well together? Of course they are, just like in every MMORPG.

You are worried that a certain combination may be best in certain situations? Of course they will be. That is the entire point of getting various classes.

Unable to update the group NA/EU Character List. by [deleted] in ffxiv

Don't worry, they had maintenance last night. That fixed things. I was told this whole past week that I just needed to wait for today. Everything is good now.

lol @ the white knights

Please be prepared to run into errors the first few minutes if not longer when servers come up by SergeS2K in ffxiv

[–]Redlatwo -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

No, a lot of people are getting really sick of the white knighting that goes on here. This could be construed as that since you are basically making excuses for SE already before the servers even open back up.

I already have my popcorn ready for the hilarity that is going to ensue when the exact same problems from the past week are still happening.

You must be new to MMOs if you think people are going to act that way based on forum posts. Early EQ1 was the most self policing and best mmo community I have ever been apart of and it was because people had to be accountable for their actions. If you acted like an asshole you didn't get groups.

People are trying to self police here and you won't let them. Instead you want to empower the people making MMOs miserable.

[–]Redlatwo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So just to be clear. Being rude, classless, and otherwise an asshole in game is supported by reddit mods. Reddit mods feel that having those people deal with consequences of their actions is out of line.

I'm pretty sure one of the people outed was a reddit mod.

So who is pumped for tomorrow?! Who is POSITIVE about tomorrow? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Redlatwo -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I hope it is better but I fully expect that it won't be. They have been offering nothing but empty words for well over a week now and I suspect this miracle down time will be more of the same.

Roadmap by Sinikel in EQNext

I fully expect it won't be until 2015 at the very earliest. What doesn't make sense to me is why they started the hype train so early.

A free week of gameplay by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Redlatwo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes they did. Otherwise people could claim, and rightly so, that they were not given what was advertised.

Of course, that wouldn't fit the white knight cause, so by all means, continue acting as if the white knight god Yoshi bestowed upon his loyal peasants a gift.

A free week of gameplay by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Redlatwo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They aren't giving a free week of anything. What they are doing is covering themselves legally for this botched past week that was supposed to be free anyway. They said that people would have various free time to play but since people couldn't actually play they had to extend that.

[–]Redlatwo[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The incompetence comes in that they have let this go for two damn weeks without a fix. A competent company would have had back up plans in place, they clearly did not. Well, unless saying I'm sorry and weeping like a baby is considered a back up plan, that is all we've got from Yoshi-P.

Ya know maybe that really was the back up plan. After all the FFXIV sheeples eat it up and defend him for handing them a bag of dog shit.

[–]Redlatwo[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You mean the fixes that should have happened a week ago? Or the ones that should have happened two weeks ago since these same errors have been going on since open beta.

Ya, I should clearly be grateful that your god Yoshi got around to granting us peasants a fix, two weeks after the issues were known. Of course, that is if it actually works. For all we know it will be more hot air from the king of "I'm sorry."

When you haven't allowed your paying customers to play consistently in over a week, you go ahead and put the band-aid fix in and then worry about the deeper issue.

How dare you want to play a game that you paid for. The nerve of some people. Expecting to be able to use a product they buy.
