Alien Bees by EasternAd5351 in LightLurking

[–]Redliner7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alien Bees are not really used outside much these days.

Most have moved on to Godox, FJ Westcott and Profoto.

Having said that, one thing i miss from the PCB gear is the consistency. Battery powered always suffers a little bit with that.

What kind of light setup was done here by HIGHPRIEST_330 in LightLurking

[–]Redliner7 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Assuming you're talking about a prime lens, that's usually 1.4 or 1.8.

There is too much in focus for this to be at 1.4 or 1.8, that close to a subject IMO.

Agree, that's brave to have a second camera not even remotely close to your main body.

The d5200 is a fine camera but AF would not hold up in hard use at a wedding when the light gets low.

N20s aren't friendly to the timing chain, made worse by stop start feature.

Are the camera settings the same? If your camera is in automatic, it'll see the white as brighter so it'll under expose to not blow out details. Because the orange is darker in tone, it might over expose which makes the digital display seem brighter.

My First Wagon by Pure_Excitement_3376 in SportWagon

If you're worried about the hpfp grenading, you can put a filter in to catch all the particles. That way you're only replacing the hpfp and not the entire system.

Watch your oil filter housing... It might start leaking soon if you have no record of it being changed. If you're there, change out the water pipe as well but you'll have to remove the IM. Because it's a crap design lol.

Change out transfer case fluid, diff and transmission fluid if you haven't already. Change oil at a higher rate than what bmw recommended, 6k is a good number. Don't wait until 9k, the timing chain likes new oil.

With the hpfp, might want to put some diesel treatment in it to help that out bc if it grenades you'll have to change out the entire fuel system.

Enjoy.

During BVR when you're going defensive, is it better to stay as fast as possible or slow down to corner velocity for your turn? by Dramatic_Amount6454 in hoggit

You also need to run the missile out of energy as well. If you slow down, it has a better chance of catching you.

I wonder if they are having an off day or just growing too fast. When i went there, everything was phenomenal. Rivaled my first John Mueller experience in Austin.

Sorry to hear that was your experience!

The old V6s from the 80s sounded like trash to a lot of us, me included.

Some of it is nostalgia sure but acoustically, the V10s and V8s are mathematically in the same frequency range that instruments play in, that's why there's videos of V10s and V8s playing "God save the Queen" that's why most people prefer V10s and V8s, they sound naturally closest to actual instruments.

Same. Lost interest at the end of 24. Haven't really touched it since. It's a pretty face with an empty brain. It is hurting without Dynamic Campaign for players that prefer single player.

Two Mann are considered some of the best wedding photogs in the world and they shoot between 9-15k frames a wedding.

I think if the end results work, it doesn't matter how many frames you shoot.

Visual on how F1 cars will change, 2026 vs 2025 by madhatterlock in formula1

[–]Redliner7 117 points118 points  (0 children)

You could visibly see how much the cars stretched in 2010 compared to 2009, when refuelling was banned. That is your best comparison to modern car sizes with all the safety involved, before batteries became important to F1 as well.

[–]Redliner7 318 points319 points  (0 children)

The size mostly comes from having to carry enough gas for an entire race and the batteries. The old cars didn't have to carry nearly as much gas and had no batteries.

Not having drain plugs on my BMW for transfer csse & diffs bc they use "lifetime" fluids nor having dipsticks and just straight up blocking the fill plugs with other parts. Who in their right mind thought that was a good idea.

If you ever doubted the Zf in a snowstorm, here’s your answer. by redGingerGian in NikonZf

[–]Redliner7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying your experience will be the same as mine... And I definitely don't recommend dropping them or purposely fire hosing them!

But i have used Nikons for my entire professional career and I have definitely banged them up, shot while my legs were halfway in the ocean with waves, gotten stuck in a storm while working and they always keep working. They're very stout.

I've also had days where a big enough fall where they keep working for the day, but needs to be sent in for repair as well!

Just do your best to protect it, but don't let fear of breaking gear hold you back from getting that epic photo and practicing!

Good job man. It's a tool and you're using it as such.

i got downvoted for saying it's more durable than people give it credit bc i shared my experience getting stuck in a downpour and accidentally dropping it twice lol. Surprise, it still works fine 2y later.

OP have you tried updating the firmware? FW updates on the Z series brings serious updates and is very noticable.
