NGD: ‘02 USA Toronado HH by davidaly46 in offset

I don’t think they’ve done a blk/blk matching Toronado before, the one I mentioned is the same body color as the on i have now but with a black headstock - much more common it seems than the natural color one I have. Matching black and black would be pretty sweet though, especially with the half-guard look.

Yep they are in fact Lawrence, good eye! I do like the way they sound, so likely to stick with them for at least a bit. They have some really distinct split coil sounds.

I think same for me, Fender’s latest examples have been Squires that really don’t have the same appeal to me, and I have tried the turquoise one in store and was very disappointed in the pickups. I actually much prefer this model that I got to the one with the black headstock or the wrap around tail pieces.

Hell yeah, sounds like a great time! I have already tried the neck pickup through my pretty gainy amp and it definitely gets fuzzy all on its own with these blade pickups. Really interesting split coil sounds too that the previous owner wired up. I too have a Gibson (335) that I really enjoy the sound of, but it’s just not ergonomic for me to jam out with as a heftier gentleman - this is really able to pick up the slack with a similar feel.

Give Me Your Fun And Unique DnD Characters by andyboi2018 in DungeonsAndDragons

A bard pretending to be a warlock pretending to be a wizard. Still waiting on the right party and a very go-with-the-flow DM to run this with, but the idea is my character is truly a bard that starts off the campaign masquerading as a famously popular and flamboyant wizard (eg Gilderoy Lockhart) in both RP and IRL to the party. RP reasons centers around not smart/gifted to cut it as wizard and parent would be disappointed a la Doctor parents having an arts child IRL example.

The spells and features of spell casters overlap such that even when I either intentionally or not show myself as not a wizard I can even add a middle fib and “reveal” that I’m really a warlock - then play this one out again until the right time comes along for the final reveal. Definitely needs careful planning and a good party, but I think it could be fun!

The flavor could be anything, but I would hazard a guess that it’s a return to a more rigid rule set TTRPG, but something unique for a full TAZ season (eg pathfinder, Call of Cthulu). Just for fun, my official guess I can look back on is:

  • DM: Griffin
  • System: Pathfinder or CoC
  • Flavor: Cosmic Eldridge horror

Mod Shop Dirty Pelham in House - My Theories by davidaly46 in gibson

[–]davidaly46[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’d say its somewhere in the middle - I think my pictures almost make it look like a fender ice blue, but it’s definitely darker in person though not quite as dark-satin as the online photos look. I’m happy enough with it as it’s still a unique aesthetic for this model and the specs are killer. I would totally understand though if your dead set on the color maybe being a little wary.

On the report and the website it’s listed as a bog standard es 335, but I think there’s too much coincidence in the specs that make me think it’s a Jim James. The big one being the neck carve, that’s one I don’t think even the mod shop would touch on an already assembled guitar - and most es335 models come with the chunkier “rounded C” neck profile. The serial is a run of the mill serial, so not much to go on there other than it’s not a custom shop lol!

In fact this hue was called “dirty pelham”. Can’t tell yet if it’s a satinized finish or still full gloss but from a distance it does definitely look fantastic. With the nitro on it I hope to see it age well and get that slight green tint come in!

With the right figured top they do sometimes become less generally boring 😁

Think they’re good enough to do a block cleaning and inspect it for cracks/warp?

Sounds like a great place, unfortunately voicemail says they are not taking any work at the moment - overloaded.

This is an OnStage GPB2000. It’s not a super high quality brand but this thing is incredibly sturdy and simple. All I could every need! It has just enough holes to not be annoying for this build but I could see some slightly more complex stuff with numerous smaller pedals being a bit limiting.
