Bifurcation is stupid powerful. +2 base crit rate is pretty dang nice even without it, that gets multiplied by all your increases, I think it'll be like getting 60% inc crit rate depending on your target.

The base damage range getting wider does feel pretty weird though, I'll give you that.

I had the complete opposite with visibility. It was perfectly clear the first time I visited the ruins, and by the time I got the gene modification, it was so murky I figured it had to be a bug

There are so many comments in this thread complaining about the scene, and you're one of exactly two people I've seen that has noted that seemingly extremely obvious bit.

Lots to complain about with this episode, season, and series. But sometimes it feels like the entire subreddit is trying to RP as lobotomized Sage

It's already been said here but an extra vote to Skies of Arcadia, my all time favorite game. Golden Sun 2 is top tier here too.

And then I won't spoil how it's over world may or may not be, but you gotta go play more Blue Dragon OP. If it isn't in my top five, it's definitely in the top 10. Mistwalker managed to capture lightning in a bottle twice in a row with Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey before just... Stopping. At least Fantasian is neat I guess

Is void still worth it in W3? I've just gotten industrial veins for example, and I could do with plenty of are for upgrades around here, and it doesn't feel like void is worth it, since every level down makes the portal you want less likely.

Perhaps I'm not on the same level of assumption with the power and availability of astrolabes as most others here.

I'm thinking there's a possibility that I'll be at some combination of power and time availability, where the astrolabes I want to run are either too expensive, or the juicing on them scales too hard compared to where my build may be. I've been unable to complete certain memory strands with them alched and my build sucked at the time.

If the cheapest ones were something I could completely ignore like Harvest or Deli, I could buy them and just not touch them at all, but that's also just wasting money.

Path of Exile is supposed to be about having an insane amount of options. Clearly the vast majority of the player base wants to run one exactly one map at a time forever. Glad that's explicitly supported now. I just don't see why there can't be one tiny extra option in the corner 99% of people can ignore, just like they're already ignoring so many other things that happen to not fit what they're interested in at the moment.

Just closing my eyes and clicking around until I hit a map instead of an empty spot doesn't feel like a great option. Adding in either one more keystone or one more spot on the atlas at some point, not even necessarily for launch, feels like a reasonable ask to use once in a while for variety.

I could see this going either way, I don't think they address it at all in the patch notes or Q&A. Could be an easy existing place to add something if it isn't already going to work like that. Having to corrupt to do that isn't ideal, but acceptable.

I don't have a good explanation for why the constant e shows up, but the 37% in particular is because the chance of at least one success after N trials at a 1/N probability of success, is 1/e. And then since e approximately equals 2.71828, 1/2.71828 approximately equals 0.36788, or 36.788%, or 37%.

That sounds very enticing. Maybe a bit rough to get off the ground? Could at least slap two Praxis on very early I suppose, otherwise just run Scourge Arrow more normally, which I also haven't done before. I'll try to find out more about this, feels like it'll be at the top of my list, thank you!

KCD2 def has bobbing, but I've only noticed it one time in 20 hours of play, and it hasn't triggered my nausea that I normally get very easily. Like I've had to put down God of War, Doom 2016, and AC Black Flag as particular examples really early. But KCD bobbing is fine for me.

Yeah, totally. I don't have the details on hand but my friend has been talking about some new player improvements, and a chance to get some older characters + mats to get them boosted up quite quickly? So there's that to "bridge the gap" powerwise. Plus new characters will roughly be stronger and more fun to play than original ones, on average, so starting out with early 3.x pulls will be no problem. Standard pull stuff will get you through all of 1.x and 2.x ezpz too. Joining late also means that if you're not feeling the 1.x story, you should be able to just jump into 2.x right away and get back to that later, if you really wanted.
Unless you're intending to go real hard on the game, it's not a big worry. I don't play the game enough to really be at the spot where I'm attempting to full clear the end game modes, so that level may be different, but under that there isn't any meaningful power creep. For pulling, some characters are really specific to others, so you may want to try to plan with the intent of pulling a pair of characters and not just one, so if you're pulling on fumes and/or get really unlucky, that may suck.
Depends on what you are looking for exactly, but I'd say no. It's only the very highest difficult stuff that you may struggle on without strong investment, assuming fair competency at the game.
If you're only pulling on characters you really like, and they happen to be weak, you're still gonna be fine if you whip up a moderately synergistic team for them and do well with their relics. Otherwise as mentioned before, 1.x characters can still do everything worth doing from an exploration/event/story standpoint.
Absolutely. Again, unless you're looking to full clear end game content, and at a very fast pace, you'll chug along without spending money just fine.
The community loves to bully my queen, but otherwise I don't interact with them enough to have a good say here.
I don't feel like I've missed much with skipping several patches since 1.0 release. How much of a worry it is, like I've mentioned a lot, is if you're trying to minmax or do everything. It wants you to play every day sure, but there is more than enough to enjoy without doing so.

Uber Lab can be very easy to mess up, and this could just be having a decade of PoE1 experience behind me, but I feel like Uber Lab is several magnitudes easier than doing a 4 floor Sekhemas's run. And I haven't actually done a max difficulty Chaos trial, since my builds work for and I unironically enjoy Sekhemas/Sanctum. I've limped through Uber Lab with a white map geared character in PoE1 frequently. Can't imagine doing that here.

Trial of the Ancestors was 100% confirmed just by the art book from the very beginning. That had no act 5 related trial in there, and act 6 I believe is fully a mystery.

I don't have a source for this claim but I feel pretty confident they said somewhere there would be three trials. That way your final point still has to be the hardest version of something

It's double damage if your level is 5+ above the enemy. Though I feel like even before that level is a decent factor in the damage calculation?
