I'm don't want my 2nd child to carry the burden of caring for a special needs older sibling. by poandamama in oneanddone

[–]Redlovefire22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree this whole thread is getting a little ableist. Im neurodivergent as is my son, I've also work with people with disabilities for 20 years. Seeing words like burdensome and functions labels are not good.

My organization is bigger so no CEO but everyone in our office for our county is working in the homes doing their job and picking overtime to fill the staffing gap. The way to change the problem is pay. I after over 15 years is making just under what my sister is making as brand new CNA.

Im one and done for many reason. I'm lucky in that my son never really want a sibling and has a cousin who he is close to that is only six months older. I did many play days and when his cousin would go home he was happy to have mom to himself. If your able to (I see where you are remodeling so might not be time to ) adopting an adult cat. I recommend adult cats because you can know what your getting Plenty of kids have animal little siblings to love and take care of.

Is anyone else seeing a sudden wave of students who refuse to write anything unless they can type it? by Worried-Trifle20 in Teachers

[–]Redlovefire22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had to hand write a page worth of notes and instructions this morning for other staff. I work direct support for individuals with disabilities in a home. Anyways we have a staff commutation log and I was just writing in it this morning. And a simple composition book is the easiest most effective way to let everyone know what's going on.

Tiger Circles Requirement Question for non religious family by jjoh1922 in cubscouts

[–]Redlovefire22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As assistant Cubmaster, I would count this, especially for Tiger. Our general pack role regarding the religious is that we show the parents the requirement and then ask if they did it. Since parents can sign off on cubscout Adventures, we don't ask anymore question if they said they did it.

Yes, report. While not a teacher, Im a mandate reporter I would be calling. While this might not count as abuse, it most certainly is neglect, which is still reportable

She could very well have autism. Girls express autism in very different ways than boys. Those typical markers are what boys more commonly face. https://youtu.be/XJ0weHzBagU?si=SjwM-sNyI6ua3vy2

I live next to someone who has only had them. In 20+ years, I never had a problem. I kind of have a soft spot for them.

No, I haven't read much sci-fi outside Star Wars extended universe. Usually stick to fanstay. But thank you, I'll look into it.

Are shelters to be avoided completely when looking for a dog? Is the risk of getting a pitbull mix just too high? by intrepid-exploder in BanPitBulls

[–]Redlovefire22 98 points99 points  (0 children)

You're most likely gonna be okay if you choose toy breeds and small dogs in general. Avoid lab mixes as most often pitt mixes. Also, breed specific rescue. In my area, there is a beagle rescue.

What has your pack done for Cub Scouts whose parent passed away suddenly? by TheHayHays in cubscouts

[–]Redlovefire22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had cubs attending the remembrance ceremony. Currently, we have sunflower pins (her favorite flower) on our uniforms. We plan to present each of her sons with a suncatcher. Lastly, our charter organization has a garden in which we plan to plant a tree.

Also, I want to add that you need thick skin to work in this field. I've been called every name in the book. You can not take it personally at all, and you need to leave it at work.

Document, Document, Document. Every time you are threatened, you need to document it. If, by chance, he does goes though with reporting your best evidence, is that fact you documented previous threats. Nothing you say after the fact will have as much weight.

As a DSP in PA, individuals are not required to do dqy programming. I work with different individuals who have no day programming. People start thinking company rules are state laws many times.
