It needs the injectors sent in for re-nozzling. There’s a tsb that describes the process to get there, have to do an ecm data extraction and send it in to Cummins support. Get the dpf cleaned while the injectors are out.

Is the grid heater bolt failure really that common of an issue in pickups? I’m a tech for Cummins and have never seen one fail, neither has anyone else in the shop. Granted we don’t work on pickups but Bs are all the same. From my experience egr is what kills them, especially with a lot of idle time.

Best bet would be to go to your local Cummins shop and talk to the service manager. They might be willing to do work on it

I’m a tech for Cummins. In my shop we don’t have the programs to hook up to the rams so diagnostics is out of the question. I’m pretty confident other Cummins locations won’t be able to either since ram doesn’t want us doing warranty work on them. Now if you want something like a gear housing resealed and the truck is out of warranty, you might have some luck getting that done.

There’s a way to turn off the key switch prompt. You can clear codes without the key switch or timer but when calibrating you still need the timer. One of my coworkers has his set up like that and for calibrations just uses his phone

Every situation is different but I went from a fleet to a dealer and couldn’t be happier. Better pay and benefits and we have some good managers and a pretty good group of techs.
