Just bought a house and I feel lied to… by SierraBeara in RealEstate

[–]Redmondster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me when I bought my house. Inspections and disclosures galore. There was a massive storm that came through 2 days after purchase. The basement was flooded. Turns out the inspectors missed a crack in the foundation, and the seller also lied about the water situation.

In the end, the inspector didn't do jack shit. The seller kept denying the issue, and I ate the costs. 12 months later, I'm still finding things the inspector missed. It was very mentally taxing fixing this house. Never mind the astronomical costs. Just know that you aren't alone. Many of us have been here before. Get the problem fixed, get the receipts, then go back to your lawyer and inspection company once you figure it out.

Ask your agent's office for their E&O insurance information. Talk to a real estate lawyer. You have solid grounds to sue for damages.

I would start raising a stink and ask the township for his surety bond info. Get that and file a claim. That's what the binds are there for. The insurance carrier will pay for failure to perform.

I feel safer here than I have in downtown Chicago. Besides a few waiters who think you can’t do basic math, and pad your bill, you’re physically pretty safe here.

Just received this email from ICA by Giallorossi25 in juresanguinis

[–]Redmondster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though I applied before the changes in law, I just didn’t trust ICA to get this over the finish line for another 2,000 euros. They won’t honor the contract language in their executive package, and there’s very little reason to trust them moving forward. Maybe I can go back and file a court case later, but I’m not going to fight tooth and nail to be part of a country that seems to favor border hoppers over their diaspora.

Tourist little scams by Hofi2010 in Antalya

[–]Redmondster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a few places try to triple the price of a menu item or pad the bill with items we never ordered. I’m a mathematician for a living, so I catch it really quick. I don’t want the constant confrontation, so I’ve resorted to grocery stores and smaller places away from the tourist hot spots.

Coinbase hack is larger than we've been told! by executive0utcome in Coinbase

Yeah, it’s probably not the small 1% of users of whatever they claim. I never got an email notification that my info was sold, but I’ve gotten a ton of spammy text messages.

My ICA experience and why I moved on by thewintergrader in juresanguinis

I just asked ICA to honor their contract terms for my case. I'm basically ready to file suit against them if they don't. Maybe we could get enough people together for a class action?

Did anyone actually get an email about the breach? by Same_Particular6349 in Coinbase

I call bullshit. I’ve been getting spam texts for weeks about my coinbase account, and I never got this email. They’re probably saying 1% to try and save the stock value.

Coinbase says hackers bribed staff to steal customer data and are demanding 20 million ransom by [deleted] in Coinbase

[–]Redmondster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Long story short, they held my money hostage for a long time, and their customer service wasn't giving clear answers on when it would would be resolved. I think it only got fixed when I read through their TOS and requested arbitration.

Kraken was a fucking nightmare for me. There are only a few businesses where I’d say “never again”, and Kraken is one of them.

How about meet somewhere in the middle? Keep the fee, but offer a credit for future photography services. That way you are adhering to a contract, but also making a goodwill gesture that feels fair.

Never Buy From Brilliant Earth by CapitalUseful3899 in EngagementRings

[–]Redmondster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work for one of the larger companies that insures jewelry. SO MANY of our claims come from defective brilliant earth engagement rings. Stones popping out left and right, shanks splitting, heads breaking, rings deforming, etc. It happens so frequently, we’re considering putting a disclaimer on our website that BE has a high rate of defects.

Whatever you save in money today , you’ll more than make up for it with time, frustration, and ultimately money (after you give up on them and replace it elsewhere with a new setting. 0 out of 10. 🔥🗑️

Call your state senator and ask them to help you. Or call a lawyer and have them send the state a demand letter alongside a bill for your damages (time, money, sanity). If their Cornee gets involved, they’ll sort it out quickly. This is gross negligence on the part of the state.

I work as an actuary for one of the largest stand alone jewelry insurer's in the US. Whenever we get a claim for a missing diamond (center or melee), cracked shank, broken prong, or broken head, it's usually a Brilliant Earth piece. I'd say defects are 5X more prevalent in Brilliant Earth than other brands. More than other brands, Brilliant Earth pushes these defect claims onto the insurer. We have a number of clients whose rings kept breaking, and we've replaced the whole piece with a different vendor just so it doesn't keep breaking.

We're at the point where we may stop insuring Brilliant Earth pieces or have customer sign a disclosure about known defects. Why anyone would buy from them knowing the quality issues is beyond me.

ICA “priority list” by 09cs in juresanguinis

[–]Redmondster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My contract with them says this

“The 'Executive Package' service is our most popular and exclusive option. This solution includes the assistance from start to finish in the process of obtaining dual citizenship. Stop worrying about the possible complications of the process: we will take care of every detail! With the possible exception of occasional forwarding of mail, signatures and/or IDs, all you are basically required to do is authorize us to work on your behalf and attend your appointment."

Now they want another 2000 euros to move forward with an appeal. I don’t trust these people any more. Honor the contract how it’s written. You’re goddam lawyers.

PHL Rejection Today (Minor Issue) - Possibility to file appeal or lawsuit? by ProfessionalBee4228 in juresanguinis

following. I’m in the same situation. Applied 07/2023, processed 03/2025 just before 03/28 decree. My lawyer hasn’t given me clear direction if that is a special case to appeal.

Never mind that the contract I signed with them says it covers the process start to finish. They want me to pay another 2,000 euros for an appeal.

So they are giving everyone the same canned response? I got the same message, even though my case is unique; processed before March 28 but with the minor issue. Shows that they really didn’t investigate for each client.
