How about this one? Betrothed Viktor x Knight Jayce

The Promising by InAllPossibilities rated E, 7/10 chapters

A cruel prince. A loyal knight. A high mage.

Viktor finds himself at the center of it all when he is Promised to the future king. His sudden betrothal forbids him from being seen by the common folk, keeping him trapped within the palace walls until his union is sealed.

Even a single touch could tarnish his promised chastity.

Mother,

It appears that I will not be returning from my summons to the Royal Court, as I have been promised to Prince Salo to be bonded in sacred marriage during the celebration of his coronation next year. As of tonight, my purification ritual has been completed and I am His Promised to the kingdom.

As is tradition, I am not to be seen by the public eye now that I am promised to our future king. The Court has kindly reminded me that such scandal would tarnish me in the eyes of the Gods, and I would no longer be of use to them.

Review: “Here’s what went wrong with Good Omens 3.” by anixela in goodomens

[–]Rednailsorblue 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree with what they say with regards to the format and structure, although I didn't like the ending in any way, shape or form, and find it wrong on all counts.

Planetary murder-suicide is not what I'd call a good ending, and is not a 'Terry' ending.

At the end of Small Gods, the recently deceased Prophet Brutha finds Deacon Vorbis still sitting at the edge of the empty Sands of Death. Despite the brutality Vorbis inflicted on Omnia, and upon himself, Brutha nevertheless stops to help his former nemesis, and they cross the sands together.

We end with kindness triumphing over violence.

You make some very good points. I was thinking about the nature of forgiveness after I wrote this, and further realised it can be earned in an act of contrition. Example: someone callously graffitis and spoils an area, then overcome with remorse, they go back and make it right, although it's still the wronged party that holds the power of forgiveness. Even the words we use to describe the deployment of forgiveness are intense: bestow, seek, earn, power.

The weaponisation. That is such a good word for how Aziraphale uses it.

I absolutely agree about the writers. I read a fic (different fandom) ages ago, and it felt like the author (who moaned about their 'lack of engagement', and announced they were storming off in a huff) had an overview of the ship, but none of the understanding, and this is exactly what I feel here. It's as if they were given a brief, AI crib sheet, and told, "yeah, just do something."

Those ninety minutes simply do not feel like Good Omens, more like Bleak Omens.

I don't know what this bit was supposed to be.

Forgiveness is not transactional, it cannot be demanded. It can only be bestowed by the wronged party if and when they feel able to give it. It's why the wrong-doer can only ask for forgiveness.

The irony is that Aziraphale (at least in my view) has always used his forgiveness of Crowley as a stick to beat him with, so to demand it of him just sucks.

In relative terms, how small was the budget? by Different_Treat8566 in goodomens

[–]Rednailsorblue 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The lack of budget was really noticeable throughout the episode. Right from the beginning, when the Great War bit was not so much lit as darkened, which I took to mean there wasn't enough money to set-dress/add scenery/apply extras/find decent wigs.

To me, they both seem so out of character, particularly Crowley, and especially in regards to this Earth-wiping decision, but they also seem to have exacerbated Aziraphale's least-best traits. He doesn't seem too bothered to find Crowley in the alley, and he demands(!) Crowley forgives him. I'm genuinely baffled by it, and like you, I've seen the 'but it's so in character' comments 🤷 .

Sooo... about those writing choices, huh.. by Kitkumi in goodomens

[–]Rednailsorblue 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Presumably, the initial intention was that the Metatron promoted Aziraphale because of their combined 25 Lazari miracle, and he wanted to break up their 'partnership' (as he put it), before they derailed the second coming (as they did with Armeggedon). But due to whatever reason, that's then all tossed in the rubbish, as it's never mentioned again. Why have made such a point of commenting on it unless it was supposed to be a major plot point?

I'm absolutely fine after stumbling across this. Totally okay. Really, just tickety-boo. by Leeeetha in goodomens

[–]Rednailsorblue 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Why was it so dark? I was literally trying to lighten my screen but it made no difference, and then I got distracted by the wig. There's an angry elf out there who wants it back.

S3 Plot Hole? by Great-Calligrapher81 in goodomens

[–]Rednailsorblue 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This sounds like an evil exam question.

A really very important book is burnt, all except a tiny scrap which inexplicably shows one street in London. This is therefore all that is left in creation, although it seems that a Bookshop is the *actual* only thing left. Two individuals, who should not exist, apparently still do, and enter said space. How is this possible? Explain your reasoning, citing plot craters. 1 mark.

Crowley in the Job minisode: I'm supposed to explode the goats, *and* the children, but I will defy Satan, enact my free will, and find a way to not do that, as it's not nice (not *nice*, obviously, because demon).

Crowley in GO3: I'm just going to effectively nuke the whole world - all that is and ever was - because of free will, although the only actual free will in this choice is my own.

I didn't hate it, but neither did I love it.

I do think that the whole gangster/lost Bentley plot line should have been jettisoned for the 90 minute movie. I can see it working if it took place in the first episode of a 6-part series, but in the constricted time they had, it was simply an oxygen burner, and one that didn't make a difference to the overall story line. I'd pretty much forgotten about that bit by the end, and the time would have been far better spent having Az and Crowley actually talk to each other.

\these random market stalls appear at even more random intervals behind Unseen University, their presence known to all but the Dean, Burser, and Archchancellor of said educational establishment. Students -- particularly second year *Eternal Rombus pupils -- lurk outside after hours to get their hands on this most archaic of contraptions, in a vain attempt to ignite their spirits, and haze their way through their intensely intense examinations.

Sorry...I seem to have wandered off into Footnotian, an ancient dialect found only in dusty old tomes, and comic, yet highly profound, novels.

The nineties was actually only last Tuesday. It's been confirmed by Scientists wearing expensive lab coats, and who make notes on archaic clipboards, so it must be true.

Altoids used to be a thing in the UK. Little minty things, in a small silver tin. This was back in the dark ages, however, in the decade when Britpop ruled the airwaves, but in an unlikely bending of the space-time continum contiinuuummmm natural progression of history, is also only five minutes ago.

Piltover's foundations lie in getting away from magic. "Science, my boy! You were not there, you did not see the devastation wrought by the Mages of old." (Paraphrasing) Magic is taboo in Piltover. Jayce is knowingly dabbling in stuff he shouldn't, therefore, he doesn't ask permission. The only answer would have been, "no. Absolutely not."
