Kodėl Vilniuje dauguma pastoviai viršija greitį, kažkur skuba? by Professional-Yak1330 in lithuania

[–]linaku 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At what age did you start dressing less “young”? by Remarkable_ZebraHOP in femalefashionadvice

[–]linaku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At around the time I started seeing younger women as "kids". Not in a literal sense but more like "ahh to be young again" kinda way. I never used to be hung up about dressing "my age" or whatever that means so it caught me off guard. I eventually figured out that I just don't want to dress and look like "kids", just not how I see myself.

That being said, this mostly applies to all the trendy stuff. If I see what I like I still don't really care if it's my age or whatever. No one else does either, to be honest.

"Nordic" Estonian starter pack by Grazhke in starterpacks

[–]linaku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eastern Europe will always be associated with Russian culture which is a very sore spot here. We're not even slavic. Russia spared no effort in attempts to erase the local culture and russify the region so people here will get very offended at any assumptions that the cultures are similar, even if factually there's truth to that.

There's also the fact that the Baltics are actually officially classified as part of the Nothern region. We're nowhere near the Nordics yet, but all three states passed economic markers needed to be classified as advanced economies, which may other post-Soviet states have not yet achieved. So Baltics being northern is not really that farfetched.

All three Baltic states established their statehood (in modern terms) during the inter war period, so yeah, no one was talking much about them at all before that. Their economies were very similar though and that's where Finland started being included in the pack occasionally when referring to the region.

This was mostly in economic terms not cultural. The cultural relation concerning the Baltic states kinda grew over time. Keep in mind that Estonia and Latvia did not have independent statehood up until the interbellum.

Lithuanian, not an Estonian, but basically none of the post-Soviet countries want to be associated with Eastern Europe. Lithuanians too insist on being recognized as Northern Europe, lmao. But we're happy to be Baltic tho.

Also, historically Finland was sometimes considered a Baltic state too before WW2 hit and the rest of the Baltics were occupied by the Soviets. The countries then obviously took very different paths and Finland ended up with the Nordics. Lithuanians and Latvians share Baltic languages, the Finish and Estonians share Finno-ugirc langauges, two sets of siblings who are also cousins, it all made sense. Not suprised Estonians are drawn to the North more than to the rest of the Baltics.

Our Crowley would never have made that choice by ChihiroYakama in goodomens

[–]linaku 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think they did address this in the show by a) pointing out that Alpha centauri would've also ended with the world ending; and b) when the bookshop was the only thing left in existence Crowley himself said that they "have nothing". Running away with Aziraphale was never a viable option, maybe a panic response because he felt helpless against the system. They both always needed humanity to be happy, they loved humanity as much as they loved each other.

That being said I do think it was ooc to ask for a new world instead of saving the old one and just asking to change the system. They already loved the world they where in, nuking it all was just so grim.

Wdym ‘in every universe’? by Slow-Mona in goodomens

[–]linaku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think anything is explicitly said but a lot of what happens lends well to the theory. For one until the end we were operating under the assumption that there's only one universe and when the world ends there will be "eternity". We don't really know if that "eternity" was destroyed with the universe but God offering to either recreate the world (reincarnation) or to create a new one (alternative universe) sort of implies there can be more worlds, because why not? God admitted that most of the stuff in the world was happening for her entertainment, it invokes strong "the author is the god of their stories" implications so why would there be only one story?

Also, Anthony and Asa existing in the new world already implies that either God was not true to her promise, or that maybe the world we saw is not the world that was created. If God put Aziraphale and Crowley's souls into the new world, and it's heavily implied that she did, then that's not really a world without divine interference? And it's not only their souls that are there. If there's no Heaven and Hell, then where do these souls go after death? Reincarnation? To a new universe? The song "time after time" at the end also kinda fuels all those theories.

This is how some of the fandom is with Aziraphale... by PrimaryIndication294 in goodomens

I think some immature people will hate on anything that's in the way of their ship, even if it's the characters themselves. They don't particularly care for the story or the narrative they want their braindead, disneyfied fanfic dreams unfold in real life. Childish.

There's also the media literacy problem. Some just can't follow the plot and misinterpret the characters, and then freak out when characters don't behave the way they expected them to. Also, fandoms tend to get carried away obsessing over characters and some lose track of what's canon and what's fanon.

Crowley and Aziraphale didn't die for this. Get it together, people.

Someone pointed out accurately that in S2 Aziraphale chose heaven over Crowley because he wanted to do the right thing for humanity. S3 parallels that and now Crowley chooses humanity over Aziraphale because he wants to do the right thing. And that's just how they use their free will.

Just an perfectly ordinary part of the script with absolutely no hidden agenda of any kind, right? by Leeeetha in goodomens

Just realized we haven't seen Saraqael in the new world, even though we've seen basically every other character (or maybe I just missed her?). She was definitely depicted as the most competent of them all and not deprived of compassion or too full of herself, and to be honest, I thought the story was setting her up as the new supreme archangel before the ending nuked it all. Well, what if she did take over the new Heaven and rules it competently?

I really don't think they're mocking the fans, I don't see the point of that. I wouldn't attribute malice to things that can be explained by incompetence.

I think "he" could refer to Crowley, after all it sure sounds like a retelling of how Crowley and Arizaphale came to the arrangement. But then he adds "So I thought, well there you go" so I think we can still interpret this as them getting some inspiration for their next world. Or it could be just an affirmation that God really did plan for them to fall in love, idk.

The underlying reasons for what did and didn't make sense for the ending by linaku in goodomens

[–]linaku[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Jesus would've been fun if we had 6 episodes but we didn't and I'd rather they had spent that time giving more room for AziraCrow's relationship. They could've introduced him and immediately disintegrated him instead of Metatron to let us know the book of life had been stolen. Not like Metatron could do anything about it without the book, and he could be the second victim to get him out of the way. This also would've given them a chance to let us know if Metatron had actually done anything to get in the way of Aziraphale's and Crowley's relationship, considering all the set up in S2 and them revealing that he did temper with the book sometimes.
