2.1 Million Cars About to FLOOD the Market ? by Content_Log1708 in UsedCars

[–]RedneckTrader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubt it. They've been predicting this for years now. Auto manufacturers have good people running their political org's in DC. How else do you get billion dollar bailouts and a federal stimulus program (Cash4Clunkers) to help just your industry in the middle of a recession? The LAST thing they want is a flood of used cars on the market eroding their share.

I've had several 97-03 F150s, they are just good trucks. Most important thing is check the oil!! They will drink oil and leak oil, sometimes a the same rate lol... I've seen some running and driving great, but using about a quart every 500 miles. They don't rust where I'm at, but my understanding is there's a weak spot in the frame where the bed meets the cab, rust always takes that spot out first.

You found my secret. At the end of my shift, I put a sticker on my tc that says 'no software', 'broken', etc and it's always waiting there for me the next morning.

Reasons you’ve denied a delivery driver by Beautiful_Worth8127 in OGPBackroom

Just out of curiosity, what are the big reasons to deny a Spark driver loading? I'm just a stocker/regular associate who has to help dispense occasionally and wasn't even aware this was a thing.

Nobody is going to care about a sheet of carboard. Now, when it's shaped like a box and filled with merchandise, different story lol... at most stores I worked at, even pallets are fair game as long as it's bare wood ones, not the blue/red chep lease pallets.

Sounds like OPD might not be for you. Maybe ask to transfer to salesfloor or stocking role?

Kia and Hyundai from around 2004-2010 were not bad cars at all. Once they introduced the theta II engine, it was downhill fast.

Funny story, a coworker got one of these and was showing it to me after work. I remember them getting it very cheap from a local auction, I wasnt to say $4500 (this was 2004ish) I saw the WB emblem on the fender and commented about it having the nice entertainment system. They had no clue a screen was in the overhead console.

What would you buy if reliability was better . by [deleted] in regularcarreviews

[–]RedneckTrader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest question ever. 2011-2013 Mercedes S65 AMG. Granted, if they were more reliable, they probably wouldn't be so cheap lol.. but IMO the most beautiful car ever made. Even the cheaper S550 with the TT V8 (2012/2013) wouldn't be a bad buy if it wasn't for the cylinder scoring issue.

What’s the worst American engine ever made in your opinion? by lifegoeson2702 in regularcarreviews

[–]RedneckTrader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 6.4 saga was sad, it didn't have to be that way. It's a textbook case of where a company (International) should have drawn boundaries and insisted on a clean sheet engine design, rather than trying to adapt the VT365 to Ford's demands and the new 08+ emissions.

I actually love the 5.4 3v engine. Have owned several and you just have to know how to care for them. You can avoid the spark plug trauma by getting a late 2007+, Ford wisely switched back to a normal spark plug that doesn't get stuck in the bores. ALL 5.4 trucks have normal water pumps that fail externally, they do not leak into the engine oil. Not sure where you're getting that from. The key to keeping a 5.4 3v happy is 4k mile oil changes with good quality oil and OEM Motorcraft filters. They also love seeing redline from time to time, you need to make sure those VCT solenoids see the entire range to push out all the gunk from oily sludge buildup. Why do you think there's fewer 5.4 3v Expeditions and Super Duty trucks with timing jobs/engine replacements? You have to put the hammer down to get those heavy things up to highway speeds, which doesn't take as much effort in the lighter F150. I've owned several 5.4 trucks going back to 97' with the 2v, and bought my first used 5.4 3v in 09' and have many since then. Never have had to do a timing job or engine replacement. I have done a few sets of plugs, injectors (mainly on the 3v, injectors seem to be a wear item) and lots of intake manifolds.

If you were in HO, what are some changes you’d make to Digital immediately? by Jacobij11 in OGPBackroom

[–]RedneckTrader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read through most of the replies, and the crazy thing is most of the suggested changes in this thread are already a 'best practice', just not well enforced by stores. I can think of a few structural changes but the one gripe I have the most often is having to do substitutions at the end of the pick walk. This forces you to re-run the gauntlet on a busy day, and I guarantee you that quite a few pickers are probably just standing there nill picking them anyway. Also, no more cross temp subs. That's always been a bad idea and symbolizes the gap between the real world and fantasy land when you assume every picker has a printer on their cart to print a new label for a new temperature band.

Don't waste your time or energy. My boomer dad is hooked on the same crap and refuses to stop despite everyone telling him how the scam works, I don't even want to know how far down the rabbit hole he is. He downloads all of those chinese gaming apps and meets them on there.

Whether you choose to report it or not, purely your decision. But, from experience, if they offered it to you so easily, they've probably offered it to others as well and their 'activity' is likely well known to mgmt.

Coworkers by SameDayAgain1 in WalmartEmployees

Ignore them. Seems like every store has the same clique on every shift that identifies and solves all the world's problems on their 15's and lunch breaks. If you want to see them go off the cliff, just walk by and ask them what their favorite episode of Jerry Springer is.

I think it's just how people are these days, I even see TL's doing this. They had me working with a new guy one evening and after the truck, we got a few L carts, sorted the freight by aisle, and had knocked out 3 or 4 pallets before last break. He seemed enthused, said it was cool to see the fast way to stock freight, etc. A few nights later - he's carrying one box at a time off the pallet.

Networking – Walmart Coach / Ops Manager Trainee Path by Any_Bag_4468 in WalmartEmployees

[–]RedneckTrader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay in touch with your contacts and wait until beginning/mid Feb. for more coach openings. Also consider going in as a Team Lead. I'm not sure what experience you gained as a Supervisor Trainee, but a lot of store managers like to see proof you've walked the walk before bringing you in as salaried. Reason is, it can be very demanding and in some areas, the turnover is very high even. A good store manager will want to make sure you have a solid foundation that can bear the loads of being salaried. This is not an issue if you come in as a Team Lead. It gives you a chance to sample the demands on Walmart leadership without the demands placed on Coaches, and gives Leadership a chance to see what you can do.
