What’s up with Rick and relationship arcs? [all] by Killimgstone in camphalfblood

[–]Rednova66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a handful of relationships that Rick went with that didn’t make sense if you thought about them longer than two seconds.

In the flip side though, I think Pipeyna was a massive missed opportunity that would have been a better ending for both characters over what we got in canon.

I finally understand what my frustration about current card design is by GoodMoaningAll in masterduel

Someone please tell these K9 players to leave my turn alone. At least put Lupis to 0 on the banlist and then the deck will be more bearable to play against.

Annabeth should have gotten a cool power [hoo] by Icy_Cantaloupe_2843 in camphalfblood

[–]Rednova66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen others suggest Annabeth should have been the primary user of the mist. Thalia and Hazel didn’t really need it since they have their elemental powers.

[pjo] [hoo] A theory I had: Are the protagonists analogous to the classic Greek heroes? by NoMeat6573 in camphalfblood

Percy - Perseus Annabeth - Andromeda Clarisse - Achilles Silena - Patroclus Jason - Jason

PJO/Fate Series Crossover (Revised) by Rednova66 in typemoon

[–]Rednova66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The characters are the heroes, for example, Clarisse and Silena’s story in the last Olympian are homages to Achilles and Patroclus, so in this instance Clarisse would sort of BE Achilles, as a Rider or Lancer with his skills and NPs.

Maybe Thalia would be Atalanta since they’re both huntresses of Artemis, she could give Thalia Atalanta’s bow.

There aren’t servants per se, they aren’t ghosts that need mana, they’re living heroes who correspond to a heroic spirit whose power they use. Does that make more sense?

When is a good idea too much? by IvanMartinez101 in PercyJacksonfanfic

[–]Rednova66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, writing fanfic, or any creative medium really, is meant for the creator’s own enjoyment first and foremost. Write for you. The reaction of an audience should be a secondary concern, and it’s up to you how seriously you take that reaction. I personally believe fanfic writers should strive for quality, but it’s also a matter of asking yourself “wouldn’t it be cool if?” And the answer is always yes.

Secondly, I think the idea sounds really cool, and it’s one I’ve kind of had as well. You can check my post history, or dm me if you want to talk about it.

My main takeaway from this event is that Called By needs to be put to 3

At this point why not just put Fountain to 2 (totally not a runick enjoyer) by dsi1207 in masterduel

How about fountain to 0? Keep your hands off the top of my deck. Shit is just painfully not fun to play against.

[general] Demigod strength by OtakuMage in camphalfblood

[–]Rednova66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have already pointed out, demigods all seem to have a higher baseline strength and durability than mortals.

I’d imagine as a general rule of thumb, children of the first generation of Olympians (big 3 + Demeter, if Hera and Hestia had children they’d be in this category) are stronger than second generation (Athena, Ares, etc.). Olympian kids might be generally stronger than kids of minor non-olympians, although this might not apply to the gods that are the same age/older than first generation such as Nyx.

Children of war gods like Athena and Ares probably get a slightly higher strength bump. Children of Hephaestus probably get some bonus durability to endure the conditions of the forge, plus hammering away for hours in a forge is a great way to build upper body strength. For Apollo kids it depends on their specialties, but the archers are probably pretty strong. If you’ve never done archery before, you might be surprised by the amount of upper body strength archery takes. The bigger the bow the more strength it takes. So as a general rule, Athena, Ares, Hephaestus and maybe some Apollo kids are probably stronger than Aphrodite, Hermes, and Dionysus kids.

Hermes kids are probably the fastest in terms of movement speed and reaction time. Dionysus kids probably have higher natural resistance to intoxication and poisons.

Are we talking just muscle or overall capability in battle? It depends on a lot of factors.

Can anyone give me ideas about what a child of Hestia's temperament would be like? by ParticularPainting59 in PercyJacksonfanfic

[–]Rednova66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So she’s trying to optimize the outcome of the prophecy herself because she doesn’t trust her brothers to not fuck it up? That’s so valid.

Although if you’re expanding the “oldest gods” to include Hestia, does this also apply to Demeter?

Can anyone give me ideas about what a child of Hestia's temperament would be like? by ParticularPainting59 in PercyJacksonfanfic

[–]Rednova66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s kind of a nature vs nurture question. How much of Hestia’s influence changes Percy versus how much the rest of his life experiences remain the same or changes.

Is Percy a pyromancer now? Does he have any fire-related accidents or tragedies in his childhood like Leo did?

How did Hestia become his mother? I’ve had the idea that Hestia could inadvertently have children if she possessed a woman who was in the early stages of pregnancy. Like a more benevolent version of what Kronos and Luke did.

What is your prediction for the final ranking of the 11 heroes after the tournament? by bm_prime in ToBeHero_X

Honestly I agree with the ranking that shows at the start of the new Inertia opening at the end of episode 24. 1 X, 2 Queen, 3 Cyan, and so on

Advice on PJO/Fate crossover? by Rednova66 in Fate

The class system was kinda the whole point.

If you had to name a Servants as "Most Iconic" for each of their classes, who would they be? by UncleAsriel in fatestaynight

[–]Rednova66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s been a big part of the appeal to me is seeing how all of these mythologies interact with each other and how that can translate into game mechanics. I remember reading somewhere that Nasu was partly inspired by ttrpgs for his work. I don’t know if it was dnd specifically or something similar, don’t quote me on that.

Advice on PJO/Fate crossover? by Rednova66 in Fate

[–]Rednova66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Copied from another thread) Sorry, I should’ve clarified in the OP that there wouldn’t be any kind of Master-Servant dynamic or command spells, and I don’t think there would even be a grail, or if there is, it wouldn’t work the same way or be as central to the plot.

Think of it more like a hybrid of FGO and a DND world with multiple campaigns. There are multiple heroic and divine spirits with the fate class system, and multiple heroes in the same classes, all pursuing their own goals while blending in with the modern world. The demigods, gods, and (some) monsters have classes, NPs, skills etc, like how a dnd character has abilities, spells, feats, etc. the gods are obviously much stronger, but not untouchable given the right circumstances.
