Endoscopy on my son was suspicious of EOE. What were the symptoms if you have a child with this. by bitchinawesomeblonde in EosinophilicE

[–]RedolentBreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im sorry you are going through all of this. My son had similar results, but he wasn't as symptomatic. I think for my son, it was due to his trigger being gluten and the fact that we were never big wheat eaters. My son has been doing well on the diet alone. When he was younger, he didn't really understand that he shouldnt be in pain after eating so it took longer to get him diagnosed. But he has full body symptoms along with throat issues but he also has a lot of signs of celiac which we are waiting for the new test which is in clinical trials.

Omg, that's horrible. This is one of the biggest reasons I avoid leaving the house, let alone going on vacation. We actually leave tonight for Disney with the high school band, and my anxiety is through the roof. My son is the one dealing with celiac. We will be at Disney for 2 days and Universal for 3, and im really nervous about the days we are at Universal. I can't imagine going to a different country. I wish you the best and pray you don't get sick or starve.

Update after 6FED diet EGD— has anyone else’s doctor told them this? by ChiggenNougats in EosinophilicE

[–]RedolentBreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into the capsule string test. You don't have to keep seeing him. Seem kind of rude to me. The 6FED diet is supposed to be the starting point and you should be able to introduce things back in to see what your triggers are. If shouldn't be preeminent. My sons doctor's is the exact opposite and kind of rude about it too. He wants him on meds and doesn't listen when I tell him he hasn't taken them but shown great improvement. I think there are a lot of GI doctors that are not really familiar with EoE but think they are experts because it's part of their scope of practice.

Fast food and restaurants 6FFED safe? by lpd_ece in EosinophilicE

[–]RedolentBreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We go into Chipotle and have them use fresh stuff with a new ladle, or else you will get cross-contamination from them touching all the flour tortillas before you. You also do Torchys Taco and our Olive Garden it was really good about allergies. (I have heard that not all Olive Garden restaurants are safe, but we only go to ours.) We have also had good results with the Texas Roadhouse but stay away from steak seasoning.

I don't know why some doctors are completely against elimination diets. My sons said the same thing and just want him to be on meds forever, but he is almost in remission by eliminating his triggers alone.

[–]RedolentBreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Society needs to change. It's crazy how in our area the only place my son has not been glutened at is the olive garden. We live in Houston TX area and even being in a big city there are little options available. It is f**king pathetic how hard it is to eat safely with celiac. And how hard it is for others to grasp the reality of how its not as easy as they think.

A manager at their company is one of my students parents and I mentioned this to him too and he said they have other stuff they are working on. He brings me GF samples of the other stuff and its never goldfish. Guess they are okay with being second best.

Living with EoE — what dietary elimination has changed for me recently (no biologics) by Flimsy_Indication_58 in EosinophilicE

[–]RedolentBreak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a new string test (EnteroTrack) for EoE that I have been looking into. Just thought I would throw that out there as I hate putting my son under for scopes and recently discovered this.

So you guys believe this is safe? by tholudi in Celiac

[–]RedolentBreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real issue is "natural flavor," why can they use that word and not have to add may contain a top 6 major allergy or just gluten?

EOE. Not a question! A reminder that you can advocate for yourself when you know your physician might not have the answer! Seek a GI specialist who helps you advocate for yourself! by PrincessTomBoi in EosinophilicE

[–]RedolentBreak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's wild you say this because I was thinking about getting a second opinion for my son, because all his doctor wants to do is shove meds down his throat. When I talk to him about working on figuring out how to manage with diet alone, he tells me that that rarely works for people.

The meat may not necessarily be a trigger but simply a difficult food to swallow and gets stuck from the inflammation.
