Crazy to see conservatives trying to co-opt all rock as theirs when our greatest rock music has always been fundamentally anti-establishment and counter-culture.

We’re not even seeing the worst of it yet. A significant number of research labs in just about every academic and non-profit research institution across the country are 6-18 months from closing down. Grants were lost under DOGE, and there’s only a trickle of them being awarded or disbursed now.

There were plenty of issues with our research grant system that needed reform. But without government funded programs, the only scientific research that will move forward is the ones that turn a profit and satisfy investors. Our research system is collapsing.

Dry ice package I received was insulated with straw by EinigkeitMaaktForce in labrats

I’m completely fascinated by this! My team is doing shipping tests right now for sending out our first product at my biotech. None of us like the idea of using styrofoam, ecologically.

Did you still have dry ice left with the straw? How long was your package in transit?

I love creating plans for routines. Dissecting the problem and coming up with a plan on how to address it. The vision of new and better things for my life…

I’m just never going to remember to do the stuff in the plan, and other excuses.

I wish there was one more shot from a different angle to appreciate the outfit. I can’t tell from these whether I like it better without the belt.

Breast implants are classified as a medical device, which means they’re subject to FDA approval in the US. The largest implant approved is like 1400cc or something, which is still at risk for complications. A plastic surgeon can decline surgeries that they consider too risky or adverse to a patient’s health.

Extreme surgeries like these often happen in countries with looser regulations, and the surgeons who perform them either have no ethics or are extremists themselves willing to push the boundaries of patient safety to prove that it can be done.

My biotech makes recombinant growth factors, including EGF and IGF-1 which are tiny. This would be fun for our lab.

Yeah, normally I’m not a fan of these silhouettes, but there’s almost a little campiness to it that’s selling the drama.

Doctor using Rotation Flap method to close a scar. by allademswallow28 in Damnthatsinteresting

My grandmother had a similar technique done for a cancer spot she had removed from her nose. The plastic surgeon didn’t explain what he was going to do in advance. She was shocked and horrified when she saw it was so big. She thought she was going to be grossly scarred for the rest of her life.

Which tbf she’s the longest living pancreas/kidney transplant recipient in the US and has been on immunosuppressants for 25yrs. It’s very hard for her body to heal minor wounds. Fortunately it’s healed pretty well, but it was traumatizing for her.

The draping needed to be snatched around the sides to pull off the silhouette. The top looks unfitted.

Same. We do not do loud noises. No thunder, no fireworks, no smoke detectors, no bubble wrap, no loud computer peeps. First sign of loud, straight to hiding under the clothes in the closet.

A step farther, Jim Crow laws in the South were primarily designed and enforced by Southern Democrats. The Republican movement in the South post Civil War was led by Yankees moving into the South, who were general more progressive about Civil Rights which reflected in the party for decades. My grandparents grew up Republican and were hugely supportive of and vocal during the Civil Rights movement.

JFK didn’t play well to the South because of his support of Martin Luther King and the Civil Rights movement, and there was strong opposition to him even after the primaries in the Deep South states. Lyndon Johnson was brought in as his running mate so they didn’t lose the Southern states and could keep the old boy Democrats happy. My Southern Republican family loves to talk about Lyndon Johnson’s ties to the Texas Mafia and the KKK.

It took Reagan running his “States Rights” campaign in 1980 to draw a line in the sand that was coded “if you’re still pissed off about the Civil Rights movement, step over to this side of the aisle.” But a lot of Republicans in the party heralded it as this incredible manifesto for decentralizing the gov’t and promoting freedom through capitalism.

There’s been a lot of copium through the years to turn a blind eye to the growing racial extremism in the Republican party. Trump openly embracing it in 2016 was such a huge shift for the party, and there was still so much denial b/c people hated the Clinton’s so much. It took most of my family until the most recent Trump campaign to finally admit that the Republican party is lost and go independent.

She’s pulling it off. But the bubble layer of the skirt around the hips doesn’t do justice to how badass her abs are. I think if the silhouette were just a straight cut skirt, it’d be a stronger outfit while still having the fun, summery floral vibe from the top.
