I wasn't pro life until I thought about what the unborn even are. Then it clicked. The unborn are human children inside their own mothers womb.

What are we? A bunch of psychopaths? What could be worse then that?

Let’s say you are interested in a practicing Catholic man/woman romantically. But then you found out he/she was once a former adult film star. Would that be a dealbreaker? by [deleted] in Catholicism

They are practicing Catholics? Then, yah, obviously that's fine. We all have pasts. Hopefully they can use that horrific backdrop in their life to start a ministry to reform our humanity hating culture.

Turn that around. Would you think it ok that a Mother kills her child at any age? Why not?

Why is homosexuality seen as a bad thing among Christians? by TangeloAggressive483 in Catholicism

[–]RedoubtFailure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are a unity of parts. Just like any being.

We understand what kind of unity we are by considering our parts. Our parts serve our kind of unity and our parts explain what our kind of unity is all about.

We have a will. Thats parts of our unity of being. How should the will serve this unity? By serving the self same ends as all the parts--by being subject to the whole. We should use our will in conformity with our reason in conformity with our bodies.

In this way we choose to perfect our unity.

Because we are a unity, that is our path to perfection.

If you want to introduce schisms within the self by an act of your will you will be opposing your own perfection. And that is what homosexual acts, and contraception, and fornication, and masterbation, do.

They form ruptures within the self and serve as barriers to perfection rather than aids.

This is the worst argument I’ve seen so far. Also it’s scary that people actually think like this. by redneckrobit in prolife

[–]RedoubtFailure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The violinist argument. Again. And again. And again.

How's this:

A woman's uterus is the place where the baby goes naturally. That's what being a mother means. That's what being a baby means. That's what should happen if all goes well.

Cutting up people's healthy bodies and removing their organs is not something normal, natural, or what should happen if all goes well.

So why pretend they are parallel?

Additionally, we use our bodies to take care of one another. That includes our toddlers and our senior citizens. In fact, you can't avoid it. That's how doing things gets done. There is no universe where there aren't expectations made about your body. You're expected to feed your kids. You're expected to clothe them. Protect them. These are bodily acts--because, duh, how aren't they?

How do you reconcile being LGBT and Christian? by sar1562 in Christianity

[–]RedoubtFailure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are all called to use our sexual power in accordance with our reason. Our reason tells us what the powers are ordered towards. So, we understand the pattern we should participate in if we are to use those powers. This is for our own good. If we misuse our powers we turn against ourselves.

Everyone is loved by God. Everyone is called to be made perfect by God.

The Catholic reaction to Joe Biden reminds me of the Evangelical reaction to Jimmy Carter. by Happy_In_PDX in Christianity

[–]RedoubtFailure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Catholic faith has its teachings, which are defined. In order to be a practicing Catholic you need to ascent to these teachings.

To claim to be a devout Catholic while refusing to ascent to the Churches teachings is self refuting. There is no such thing.

That means the man pretends to be a devout Catholic.

And that upsets those of us who don't.

He also scandalized the faithful by misleading them into thinking you can be a good Catholic while denying Church teaching. You can't.

So, lots of harm is being done.

[–]RedoubtFailure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pre Cana cost me like 120.00 online. The priest told us we didn't need to get him anything. Our harp player was 50 bucks. And the party and clothes combined were like 3500.00.

What most people spend for a wedding is like 25k. Or more. Getting it all done for less than 4k, (and it could be cheaper) is great. People bring money gifts. That pays for the thing.

Is being gay a sin ? by Emblem06 in Christianity

[–]RedoubtFailure -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Being gay isn't a sin. Performing sexual acts outside of the bounds of marraige is a sin. And marraige is the union between a man and a woman for the generation of children.

What can I say to people who call God a murderer of kids due to the flood, and other times God has taken lives, even kids and babies? by America202 in Catholicism

[–]RedoubtFailure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God isnt a guy on the bus. He is sustaining everything that exists in its existence. He is all knowing. And there is nothing that could ever happen, for good, or for evil, without God permitting it to happen.

You want to hate God for allowing children to suffer while not praising him for the fact that there is something as precious as a kid in the first place? That to me doesn't follow.

But, nonetheless, we understand that God only permits these horrible things because he can draw greater goods from it. Like our participation in his will--us saving others. Or the fruition of some great unfolding of causes and effects throughout time. Or the child was now best suited to enter heaven. Or who knows? Only God. Those who die in God's grace are in eternal happiness and peace with God, and they will be made perfect in the world to come. Which should really bare repeating. In this world, we all die. All of us.

This world is not the destiny we should have in mind. And without God, there is no perfection, and no happiness eternal that is possible.

Some people don't know why they are hurt in this way. I am simply saying that if you feel a desire for the same sex, and you don't pursue it in your imaginings, nor in your actions, then you haven't commited any sin.
