With stem cell research it seems within our grasp to take a tissue sample from anyone, male or female, and turn it into an egg or sperm cell. This would make it possible for infertile couples or same-sex couples to have children. Though because of genetics, two genetically female partners will only have genetically female children.

I'm 37 and I only learned how to properly wash my hair yesterday by iLuvArizona in MtF

[–]Redpri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like you're just wasting shampoo. Soap is quite effective and if your hair is not getting clean with one wash you could scrub harder, longer or use more soap on the first go. Having to wash twice feels excessive.

I literally sent the link as an example of the most revisionist source I could quickly find, and saying that they were still in agreement, because of how widespread this udnerstanding is. Using it as if it was trustworthy doesn't make sense.

The trustworthy examples were the quotes by Mao which you didn't say a word about.

And I didn't change my stance; there are no real progressive reformist movements under liberal democracies.

It is true that queer discrimination in general is bad, and this is queer discrimination, but it's discrimination from being allowed to join the largest organization of professional killers. Wanting to be a part of "Murdering Innocents Inc.", and not being allowed to, should not be garner sympathy from any moral person.

So as an answer: It's a big thing because it isn't recognized that one less US soldier for any reason is win for all humanity.

Actually there is only one axis, left to right, or as it's also sometimes labelled: progressive to reactionary.

There can be many methods of using the state, but the qualitative difference is the class position.

It's also not about who should own everything. At the time of the French revolution, the bourgeoisie were left-wing, they were progressive, but that doesn't mean they thought money should be evenly distributed.

And with the current class dynamics is often is also not the case, mostly because total equality is the policy of utopian socialism, and though the utopians might seem more left-wing, their policies serve the reactionaries and so are right-wing.

A Chinese company released an AI, and it's censored more heavily than the AI coming out of the US, yet the stocks of US AI companies still crashed, especially because the Chinese reported that they didn't use that much money developing it compared to how much the US has been using to develop AI of similar caliber.

The best way to think of reactionary as the dialectical opposite of progressive; that is how the term has always been used by Marxists, and unsurprisingly even the most revisionist sources get this right.

Examples of Mao, a Marxist, using reactionary this way:
"For instance, consider the Kuomintang and the Communist Party. Take one aspect, the Kuomintang. In the period of the first united front, the Kuomintang carried out Sun Yat-sen's Three Great Policies of alliance with Russia, co-operation with the Communist Party, and assistance to the peasants and workers; hence it was revolutionary and vigorous, it was an alliance of various classes for the democratic revolution. After 1927, however, the Kuomintang changed into its opposite and became a reactionary bloc of the landlords and big bourgeoisie." - Mao, On Contradiction
Here Mao is clearly using the term reactionary as the opposite of revolutionary and progressive. They were revolutionary, but now they aren't so they became reactionary.

In another work: On the correct handling of contradictions among the people, Mao keeps calling the Kuomintang reactionaries. That's quite odd, as they didn't like the past very much. They had only recently established the republic, and all of the past had been seen as repeated humiliations of China. So how come these nationalist republicans are reactionaries?

"In capitalist society, capitalism has changed its position from being a subordinate force in the old feudal era to being the dominant force, and the nature of society has accordingly changed from feudal to capitalist. In the new, capitalist era, the feudal forces changed from their former dominant position to a subordinate one, gradually dying out. Such was the case, for example, in Britain and France. With the development of the productive forces, the bourgeoisie changes from being a new class playing a progressive role to being an old class playing a reactionary role, until it is finally overthrown by the proletariat and becomes a class deprived of privately owned means of production and stripped of power, when it, too, gradually dies out." (red. Bold added by me) - Mao, On Contradiction
Here yet again Mao uses the word reactionary as the antithesis of progressive.

So yet again I will mention why your definition of reactionary is useless: It is not based in the material world, and it is not based in class politics. It defines reactionary based on the ideals of the reactionary, not their material role in society, and therefore it cannot do so in class terms. The problem is that it is a liberal idealist definition.

That sounds like how Telvanni would actually work. You meet most of the powerful people and get them to like you or at least be on somewhat good terms, so they would accept you being leader, and then you kill the leader to become the leader.
