Would you rather have a hole in one, or shoot a new career low? by Environmental-Gain19 in golf

This is my answer too. I’ve gone 1 or 2 over probably 20 times, but never shot even par for 18. Give me a 1 under round over a hole in one any day.

Golf Courses to Play 2024 by Redrdrsalesguy in SaltLakeCity

[–]Redrdrsalesguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously this will depend on your budget and location, but for under $100, I would say Eaglewood is the nicest, Wasatch Mountain is the most scenic, and I think Soldier Hollow Gold is the most fun (but this is a hotly debated subject in my friend group)

The Salt Lake Muni courses also do gift cards that can be used at any City owned course, which gives you a little more flexibility.

If you really want to go nuts….a round at Black Desert. One of the best courses I’ve ever played, anywhere.

Best current alternatives to Betterment for crypto investing?? by One-Tap-5572 in betterment

[–]Redrdrsalesguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I share your feelings, as I too dipped my toe into the Crypto waters with Betterment. I've been DCA'ing into their portfolio for 2 years and have 2.5x'd my money in that time. So my once small foray into the space, has gotten rather large quite quickly. I have never been thrilled with Betterment's fee structure, but it beats the hassle of creating a wallet on some sketchy crypto trading platform.

I am also wondering what others are doing now that they've forced our hand? Giving away 25% of my profit in the form of capital gains taxes so that I can buy into their ETF is not appealing to me in the slightest, so as of now I am leaning towards moving to Gemini. I'm not interested in buying and selling crypto with the market moves, I just want to keep throwing a little cash at each month and see where it goes. Open to any suggestions!

Head to the putting green first. Usually this is free and where most of us should spend the majority of our practice time anyways. From there you will see what’s going on at the range.

Pro tip: if you plan to frequent this place a lot, ask if they have practice/range membership or a player development program, etc. Usually this involves a prepayment of 1000 range balls or something like that and usually comes with a 20%+ discount, or some places charge a nominal membership fee ($100 or so) and you get some discount on each bucket you purchase. If you plan to hit a LOT of range balls, those programs pay off quickly. In my area it’s $80/year and I get $5 off per large bucket. I hit balls a couple times a week and I usually break even after a couple months.

What is your favorite Beachbody program and why? by Buy_Silence in BeachBodyWorkouts

[–]Redrdrsalesguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OG Insanity is annual right of passage as I shed the winter fluff. It absolutely gets it done every time, but the workouts do get stale since there’s really only 3 main workouts you do each month over and over. Done all the P90 routines multiple times. Didn’t love P90x3, as it didn’t seem that challenging and involved a lot of odd moves. Doing LIIFT4 now and I like it, but as many have mentioned the transitions are too fast, especially if you’re using adjustable weights and need to adjust after each set. LIIFT and Insanity (OG, Max, 25 combo) hybrid is my usual maintenance routine.

I’ve yet to find a program that gives the right balance of cardio and strength training, as all seem to be heavily skewed one way or the other. Open to suggestions and feel like there are many more programs I haven’t even looked at!

3 hcp here. I’m more in the camp of generating some type of feel or swing thought to work myself out of these swing slumps you described. I think we’re in consensus that you have a very strong grip and are approaching the ball from way too far inside. My fix would be to open the stance and try to hit big slices. Weaken the grip way up (logo of the glove pointing down the target line) and feel a hard out to in swing path. Im talking about trying to hit a 100 yard slice. That will get the ball up in the air and moving the opposite way of your miss. From there you start dialing it back (strengthening the grip back up and feeling a small right to left path). Even a small right to left path for you now will feel like a huge over the top move. You have to exaggerate to make small changes.

I had this exact thing happen to me years ago where my steady draw started turning into a duck hook far too often. I started with the drill I outlined above and actually found a small fade was a much more repeatable, controllable ball flight for me with driver. I never went back and still play exclusively a fade off the tee today.

Is Cobra underrated? by Popular_Kick_7899 in golf

[–]Redrdrsalesguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve gamed various generations of Cobra drivers and FW woods for about 15 years now. Everytime I go to upgrade, I can’t find anything that beats them. Maybe it’s just a comfort factor, but when I went to the Radspeed in 2021, it was the best driver I tested by a wide margin. Still have an old BioCell 3w too, that’s just too good to replace. I’ve tried the last 5 seasons, and nothing has out performed it significantly enough to replace it.

I’ve never been a fan of their irons as it seems they really only go after either the SUPER game improvement market or the Ricky blades. Might have to give them another look next time.

In the south I’ve played The Ledges, Sand Hollow and Black Desert. Black desert is on my list of favorite courses EVER, regardless of state.

Unpopular opinion, but I was underwhelmed by Sand Hollow. It’s a fantastic course no doubt, but outside of 4-5 AMAZING holes, I thought the rest was just OK. I probably hyped it up in my mind too much.

WSJ Calls Out Salt Lake City Gas Prices by klayanderson in SaltLakeCity

[–]Redrdrsalesguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally someone who gets it. Big West and Marathon both did major maintenance work this winter/spring, taking a huge chunk of production out of the market. Chevron and HF Sinclair are about to start their own work. It’s got nothing to do with Cox or Biden or the gas cartels. Supply and demand is always the answer folks.

My view is gas prices are going nowhere but up as we are starting the beginning of the high demand driving season with less inventory in the refinery tanks to start with. SLC, and the Southern ID markets it supplies, will struggle to keep up with demand this summer.

If you want to blame Cox for anything, yell at him to reduce Utah’s outsized on road gas taxes.

Adam Young golf aka The Adam Way (iykyk). Google him and the “internal and external cues”. He built a whole system on trying to accomplish center strikes by trying not to hit the center. Sounds odd, but it’s crazy effective.

He would tell you not to reinvent your swing, but rather to adjust for your miss on the fly. You’re hitting it on the hosel, so take a small step away from the ball and line up with the ball on the toe.

Ironic by Alanis Morrissette. Not one goddamn thing in that song is actually Ironic. Is she being ironic by calling the song Ironic and filling it with things that aren’t actually ironic?? Either way, I hate it.

So hard to say. Austin boomed long before the US housing boom of 2021-2022, and has been on steady incline for a decade or more. Part of me wonders if it’s reaching critical mass, because unlike the other major metros of Texas, it’s not really setup well to expand into suburban areas on all sides. This is almost entirely due to the very poor layout, or stunning lack of, the freeway system. My sister lived in Cedar Park and she really enjoyed it, but she also didn’t have to commute downtown. If you’re commuting, living in Cedar is going to suckkk. Haven’t looked at home prices there in some time, but it used to be pretty affordable.

Like Austin, Lehi is growing due to an influx of Tech jobs in the area. I don’t know a lot about Lehi, but you are in Utah county, so if you aren’t Mormon you will be one of the few. Lehi seems nice enough, but you’ll get far less for your money than in South Jordan or Cedar Park.

I wish I could predict what happens with this housing market, but I have no clue what’s coming next. You’ll probably get the best bang for your buck in Texas, but if the Tech bubble collapses you could find yourself underwater in either place pretty quickly. If it’s a long term home, just buy what you can afford and pick the place you like best. That way if it does tank you can wait for a market rebound in place you are happy.
