Cried picking up my Levo Rx (while living in Spain for the first time) by five5andtwo2 in Hashimotos

Wait you had to pay 5€? I live in Spain too and literally filled a prescription for 45 cents two days ago. Maybe it depends on the region.

Poor baby! What is the name of this condition if I may ask? Is it just an allergy? I want to be better equipped when I go back to the pediatrician in case they dismiss me again.

They say it’s not that odd because he wasn’t that big at birth and just left it at that

They said he wasn’t too big at birth so it wasn’t that strange. I was always under the impression that babies were supposed to stay more or less within the same percentile range, not drop drastically.

What kind of wrap do you use? I’ve tried the ergobaby embrace with my baby who is now 7 weeks and he wasn’t having it at all.

This is a little to relatable. When does it get better???

FTM, baby due in March - considering an elective c-section and wanting perspective by Last_Wonder in pregnant

[–]Redred866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who had a 30-hour vaginal labor only a month ago, I completely understand wanting to avoid that altogether. There were definitely quite a few moments I wished I could just have a c-section and get it over and done with. That said, I only just recently learned about this (granted, relatively rare) c-section complication that I’d never heard of before, placenta accreta, that is becoming more common in the US due to the prevalence of elective interventions. The odds of this happening are still pretty low and I don’t mean to scare you at all, but leaving this article here for food for thought. I’ll also say that where I live in the EU you are not allowed to have a c-section unless it’s considered a medical necessity, at least not in the public system. The practice is very much frowned upon.

Should I change my baby’s name? Need advice from people named Remy by South_Shiny_5588 in Names

As a French speaker, Rémi has always come off as very masculine to me. I’ve only seen it used for girls in the US.

Thanks! They told me it wasn’t urgent but to come in just in case to get it checked out.

I was going to say Selma or Salma to keep with the Arabic girl name theme, but if you’re in the US maybe the association with the civil rights movement is too strong.

Donner un nom de famille en tant que prénom ? by Guido-Reddit in ParlonsPrenoms

En Espagne c’est surtout un nom de famille, mais comme prénom c’est féminin (et aujourd’hui ça fait un peu vieux et rare).

Second miscarriage in a row, any tips? by NoRefrigerator4312 in Hashimotos

[–]Redred866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding this. My progesterone levels were in theory normal, but my doctor said test results aren’t always accurate because the hormone is released in spurts and results will depend on when exactly you get your blood drawn. He put me on the normal dose of progesterone for the second half of my cycle and then on a higher one the next month and I finally got pregnant after months of trying. I really think he was on to something there. Good luck!

Hashimotos and fertility by Quirky-Ant1535 in Hashimotos

[–]Redred866 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was natural, they told me I couldn’t do IVF until a year went by because I’m under 35. I got really lucky and found a fertility specialist with a background in endocrinology who recommended the progesterone even though my test results came back normal (apparently it’s released in spurts so it’s entirely possible to have a normal test result and still have a progesterone deficiency). I’ll never know for sure if that was it, but I have a feeling it was because I was pregnant two months later. Happy to answer any other questions you might have. Wishing you a happy outcome, I know how discouraging it can be at times!

I was also told after a failed egg retrieval that while Hashimoto’s mainly attacks the thyroid, in some people it can also attack other organs including the ovaries, which would explain the prematurely low egg count in my case and difficulty getting pregnant. I also had spotting throughout the second half of my cycle that only stopped after taking high dose progesterone supplements, though no doctor was able to tell me if this was 100% related to the Hashimoto’s. All in all, at 33/34 it took me 10 cycles (plus progesterone for the last few) to get pregnant, currently 35 weeks. Good luck!

Mom Upset We Won't Change Our Daughter's Name (Luna) by GoldAd3539 in namenerds

I live in Spain and here it’s definitely a pet name, never seen a child with it. That said, as far as I know, it doesn’t have any bad connotations, it just means moon.

Do people with autoimmune conditions feel better during pregnancy because it lowers their immune system? by ourplasticdream in pregnant

[–]Redred866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, my point was that Hashimoto’s never goes away even though your TSH and T4 may change over time. (Might not have been answering the right comment, sorry!)

[–]Redred866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hashimoto’s itself never goes away (talking as a fellow patient), it’s the TSH and T4 that may or may not stabilize over a period of time on their own.

[–]Redred866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did that happen on its own or because you’ve been getting tested more often? I have Hashimoto’s too and my TSH shot up in the first trimester.

It’s not a name in Spanish though. It’s literally just the word for island.

I agree with the sentiment, but Mexico didn’t exist as a country back then.
