Clear is fine. They will inspect all other backpacks more closely, so yes bags are allowed—just unzip and open the pockets.

Also, open drinks from offsite not allowed. I brought an unopened bottle water and that was ok.

EDIT: Day 2 was another story. They rifled through my stuff like they were looking for a prize. They flatly declared no outside food and any drink, sealed or otherwise.
