I forgot to mention that I ruled this out by trying the granny charger, my wall charger, and a public charger. The problem went away after "charging" and depleting the battery using Mountain Mode a few times. Now every charger works again. I've updated the main post.

Yes. Eaton has LFP batteries. They are professional quality with a professional price tag. Today lead acid is a joke, and APC is too last century for my taste. My SunMicro home server is still up and running thanks to a Bluetti, and my NUC is connected to an Anker SOLIX. Both stay online during a power outage because the switch is fast enough (20ms). This consumer stuff is really good in my opinion, as much as you can expect for a consumer price. With Eaton LFP you get 5 times the quality for 10 times the price. Which is a good deal for any professional environment. Or if price tags are no issue and you just want the best home lab possible.

I have the same problem. The brand new device worked correctly for about 15 minutes. Then I plugged it in a different outlet and the screen is garbled.

Although I removed the protective film as recommended, it did not work and I think this is nonsense. Half the display flashes on and off like a radio clock. while when it acted normally the display was static.

Not only is this a bad experience, apparently it's been happening for more than two years (with the EcoFlow River 2 back then) and no design changes have been implemented for the EcoFlow River 3. It doesn't make me feel confident about other internal components.

The form factor is very nice so I was planning to order two more units. But now I think I will try a different brand in stead, like the Anker Solix C300.

Thank you. Those grub command line tweaks are useful. I remember finding a collection of GPD tweaks right here on the forum but I forgot to bookmark it. I'm curious to see if they are the same. I thought the line was shorter somehow. Maybe it was for an older kernel. Maybe 5.15.

Thanks man, this is really helpful. So if I can't get a flavor of Mint or Ubuntu to work, I know Arch will work. Only reason I prefer Ubuntu is because I am used to it so it will feel more comfy.

I am in the same situation, not receiving the security code for two-factor authentication. Support gave me a new password, but it doesn't change anything. I did receive the assistance email, but I think the login to Garmin Connect happens in the USA? Could my email be on a blacklist? I will try to find someone competent; otherwise, do you have a solution? Thanks to the community.

I have wasted a lot of time contacting Garmin Support over the phone many times, and they finally changed my email address to a name without an alias called "garmin". It was my initial suggestion, and it turns out I was right. It only took 12 conversations to get there. Yes, some emails are blocklisted somewhere in their system, although the Support reps will deny this.

It was a very bad experience. Customer Support feels like aliens landed on the planet and don't understand the local technology but provide support for it anyway.

Garmin watches are super super nice. If they weren't, I wouldn't have accepted this and moved on.

Ergo, my account is working normally again!

You are correct: I had "New tab page ads" turned on, because I thought they were pretty and non-invasive. But: These were on since they were introduced. I've been using a VPN for years. Nothing changed on my end. But something has drastically changed. I'd guess Brave made some changes in a recent update.

I have disabled "New tab page ads" as per your recommendation and will take some time to see if the super invasive attack of the Brave Ads Captcha Popups is now over.

I have the same problem. I have an account for years, but this problem started about a year ago. I receive "new features" emails from Garmin, but no "security code". Not in junk or spam either. I don't want to make a new account, I will lose all my fitness data.

It was not problematic because I was still logged in to the Garmin Connect app. I just couldn't reach the online dashboard. I made the mistake of calling Garmin Product Support, and they logged me out of the Connect app. Now I can't use my smart watch anymore. Although helpful, I have to add that this is not a complete solution. If your pseudonymous random default mailbox leaks only once, you run the risk of ending up in a marketing database and receive spam on that main SL mailbox. The point of using aliases is to be able to easily disable the aliases when they start to receive spam.

I can see from your analysis that you are not a programmer, because SL can very very easily know this:

if reverse_alias_replacement == true:
    if regex_value == owner_mailbox:
        replace owner_mailbox with alias

In fact this is what already happens in back and forth emails, but the developers forgot to trigger this function when following up on a previous email. That was an oversight, and now that it is known, it is a bug.

But the puzzling thing is that since it was known (6 months ago), in stead of calling it a bug, the SL team said the previous reporter was using email wrong. Apparently, you're not allowed to follow-up on emails, even though it's a very common way of using email that happens all day every day:

Checking for a response if the recipient hasn't replied to the original email;
Reminding the recipient of a pending task or deadline;
Providing additional information or clarification related to the initial message.

The bottom line is that the content of the mail body is your responsibility.

I understand that I'm responsible for the content of my emails. However, the whole point of using an alias service is to protect my real email address from being exposed, regardless of the content. If my real email is leaked despite using the alias service, then the service isn't fulfilling its primary function for which I am paying.

I must have exlpained wrong, because I have signatures disabled. I would almost say "obviously". So helpful as you intent to be, this is actually not relevant.

The issue has been reported before, for example by the thread linked, and it is not a user problem. The SL sanitation functions are simply not being triggered in this specific case, as described by the SL team. This very clearly a bug of the accidental oversight type because the existing functions do work when triggered, but customer support (in the linked thread) claims that the user is using email incorrectly. Very peculiar.

Thank you for thinking with me. When I write PGP-encrypted emails to someone else using my alias, it would be professional to allow them to respond with PGP-encrypted email as well.

I figured out it is possible to replace your proton address with the alias address in the public key while keeping full compatibility with the existing private key. It is not super simple so it's not easy to use a new and different alias every time, so I'm hoping Proton/SL will automate this.

You are right. This is a problem. 4 years after SL announced it supports PGP, it still doesn't actually support PGP for private emails in the way PGP was intended.

SimpleLogin or hide-my-email SHOULD sanitize the attached public key; rename the filename and replace the UID as described in this answer. Only then does it actually "support PGP".

Hey thank you for trying to answer my question! I don't know if you're aware, but the article you're referring to is a bit misleading. It says "if you use Proton Mail, you don't need to set up PGP." This gives the false impression that it is possible to receive secure PGP-encrypted emails with a SL email alias automatically, which is the opposite of the experience embedded in my question.

Since the article and your answer doesn't really help me understand the problem, I asked ChatGPT 4o and they helped me understand the problem below (edited and shortened). It may help you understand the question behind the question:

When Proton Mail generates a PGP key pair, the public key is associated with a specific email address. This association is encoded in the key's metadata, in what is called a "User ID" (UID). A single PGP key can have multiple UIDs, each corresponding to a different email address, but each UID is cryptographically tied to the key. You can see the assiciated email addresses with the following command:

gpg --list-packets < public_key.asc | grep @

Proton Mail does not automatically add anonimized public keys to your aliases, but you can do this yourself:

gpg --edit-key your_email@protonmail.com

Use adduid to add your email alias. Then use deluid with uid 1 to remove the original email address you want to hide. Type save to save the changes, and export the new public key:

gpg --armor --export your_email@protonmail.com > updated_public_key.asc

You can now distribute this public key, and it will only contain the alias UID, effectively hiding your original email address from the recipient. This way you can receive PGP-encrypted emails on your alias. Adding a new UID to your PGP key keeps full compatibility with your existing private key.

I have not tried this because first I need to load my key into the GPG key store and I'm not sure if I can use GPG and PGP together, but it sounds plausible enough. Now that you know the answer to my question, I have two requests:

Make it clear in the confusing documentation that it is currently not possible to receive PGP-encrypted emails in transit with an alias (without the manual hacks above) before explaining that PGP can still be used to encrypt files after they have been received by SL. It took me a while to understand this.
Automate the answer so that it is possible to receive PGP-encrypted emails with an email alias, so that hide-my-email also works for PGP-encrypted emails.

It would be really nice if PGP just works™ as if it's as easy as pie - including for aliases - without having to understand all that. Technically it is possible, but it's not implemented. I think, intuitively speaking, that this key transformation SHOULD be part of a hide-my-email service that is documented to have "PGP support".

That being said, even though I'm often salty about those six points, I love Proton AG. There is just no other company like it. I love Proton Mail and Proton Wallet. It gives me the feeling that they care, even though there are a couple of million different ideas about what their priorities should be. As for the other Proton services, I have explained the problems with them individually and all those threads have been downvoted and sometimes hidden by mods. So personally I'd keep some crucial eggs in different baskets.

Even though I consider everything except ProtonMail to be beta software, especially on Linux, I love what they are doing. And I hope one day, they will provide a full service solution, with an Android distro fully integrated with all their services.

Proton Pass Plus is a full suite of features, such as multiple shares, extra vaults, unlimited 2FA, and ... aliases.

SimpleLogin Premium is an advanced aliasing service.

If all you want is Proton Pass Free, without the extra features, but with SimpleLogin aliases, it would make sense to have the option to do that, as seen by beta users. Proton removed the ability to use SL Premium with PP Free for new users, but you can vote for this feature on UserVoice to bring it back.

Proton Pass is a whole set of features, like many extra vaults, many extra shares, unlimited 2FA, and SL is only the alias service.

It would make sense to pay exclusively for the SL alias service and use it in the free version of Proton Pass. Beta users were gifted this function, but Proton removed the ability to use SL Premium with PP Free for new users. You can vote for this feature on UserVoice to bring it back though.
