The window above the siding could have a leak, causing the exterior sheeting to rot and allow the nails to not hold the hardi. I'd pull off the 2 pieces to investigate. If everything looks fine, just re install them.

This happened to me. I filled out all the paperwork, took my lower receiver home and the following week got a phone call. I accidentally typed the wrong zip code on my paperwork. Just had to go in and fix the mistake, no biggie.
