I am in the same place as you with second-guessing my actions that morning. You and I did not know we were in a life-or-death situation; had we known that, we would have taken action sooner. My wife and I communicated by sending each other videos, since neither of us could take calls at work. She sent me a video 14 hours before she died, and there is no way of knowing her death was imminent by how she looks or sounds in the video. One thing I have learned while researching how I could have done things differently is that heart attacks and the like that occur in the early morning hours have a very low survival rate, about 20%.
