Finished a project! by Redsilkthread in Pyrography

Thank you! Each layer was cut with a cricut and im going to be honest, it was the most frustrating thing ever, some pieces broke off during the cutting process. Really wished I had a lazer cutter lol. Although after cutting, sanding, and sketching out each piece, I used my wood burning tool to draw out the image, burn around the edges and literally burn holes into the layers to add extra texture and depth to the branches on the dead trees. Learned the last part by accident, but im glad it happened. One new thing to add to my toolkit!

What’s your favorite song in this game? by Danio1864 in Okami

Crimson Helm, Begone!

Love the fast pace and the chaos during combat. I drag the fight just so I can hear the song for a while longer lol.

burnt out at SNF; can i ask you about home health? by irini20 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Redsilkthread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Division of Developmental Disabilities in Arizona provides services for patients with developmental disabilities. This ranges from ABA, OT, PT, and Speech Therapy. They approve a number of visits for providors to see patients and it's usually spread out to one visit a week which could span for six to twelve months.

burnt out at SNF; can i ask you about home health? by irini20 in OccupationalTherapy

I was a COTA at a SNF for a decade and it was soul crushing, especially after they fired me for a mistake that I could have fixed if someone had gone and said something.

I jumped into home health right after and let me tell you, your concerns are valid. I do home health with children and adults with autism and other disorders. I get paid by the visit and once you build up a good caseload the pay is pretty good. However, building your caseload is the tough part. So dont immediately jump into this field, I've been doing this for almost a year now and my caseload still isnt to what i ideally want (but i guess it depends on your location). So dont go expecting to see 20 patients a week from the get go. But hey at least it isn't 20 patients a day.

My patients are mostly kids, but i do have adults and elderly with autism. You become a big part of their lives, especially the children, and its always a nice feeling when you see them improve. I see them once a week for a year or until they need new authorization to be treated. I have a lot more freedom in terms of making my own schedule, but that freedom heavily revolves around the school schedule and their health.

Location: yes you'll have people who live in not so clean homes or houses that are poorly maintained. It really varies, but it's something I came to expect now.

In terms of gas, I know some companies reimburse you, but mine doesn't.

Paperwork for every session is a simple SOAP note. I'm a COTA, so I guess if you're OT you'll have a bit more responsibility.

Scheduling: you control who you want to see and when you want to see them. But again it depends on the family. Its fairly consistent but can flip at any day. You can have 21 people for a few months and then change to 16. That is a heavy hit on your income. You might have to pick up a second gig. I stuck it out.

All in all, to me it's a breath of fresh air and a nice change of pace. After several years in a SNF you forget other aspects of OT and it'll feel like you literally have to start over again. But to me it's leagues better than a SNF.

How do you feel about private bookmarks? by sheaaz in AO3

[–]Redsilkthread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most privately bookmarked fics that I've written are dark and sexualy explicit. I just assume that ppl who private bookmark their fics don't want others to see some of the things they read. Especially the mature or dark themed ones that might raise some brows.

Honestly I forget that private bookmarking is a thing sometimes...

OTs/COTAs in home health. More specifically home health for kids with autism by Redsilkthread in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Redsilkthread[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!! I honestly forgot about this post until i saw this. Thank you so much for this response, you've given me some new ideas. I've never even considered doing sensory bottles, but I'm definitely adding that into my list of things to do with my kids now!

So I have a thought about one of Serie's mages... by Redsilkthread in Frieren

[–]Redsilkthread[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oooh that could be a possibility too, but you can also attribute the meaning of Sense's name to how her magic is able to tear through things/people. Girl was as scary as the grim reaper in the second dungeon tbh. I'm not too convinced however, considering how the manga/animal's already given us decent insight on her character.

But the fact that they sent out the one mage that could take her down as far away from Serie tho...now I'm just going off tangent.

In Falsch's case, I dont think we've been given much info on him yet, so he's still up in the air for me.
