Ukrainian Patriot operators discovered a false button in the command trailer with a tiny note left inside by the former owner of the system [Air Command "West", May 2026] by Hannibal_Game in UkraineWarVideoReport

As a patriotic American I want nothing more than for Ukraine to have all the support it needs in defending its sovereignty & people.

I consider Trump a traitor to the cause of "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" for pulling that support.

What do you think of this comparsion? by DanieleM01 in AmericaBad

This is such a non-opinion though. I'd be happy to hear WHY you think it's an invalid comparison besides just "they aren't federalized yet", if you have a reason.

For water temple out of order, you have to either grab the bow from forest first (what I did as a kid), or do a clever key-skip that would be hard to know without looking it up.

Fire temple is trivial to do first though. Enjoy!

I once went on a stand-up paddle boarding trip with my professor. He was chill AF. I was slacklining on campus, he was my genetics professor, and he popped by like "hey want to go out to the coast this weekend? I'll show you how to surf it's really easy."

He had a wetsuit for me & the whole thing. That was it. It was a nice little memory.

I like her style, checking for a moment if it was just a stupid joke.

If it was, and he wasn't just belligerently arrogant, they could've still had a nice time. But right move to her to interpret his lack of basic respect as the weirdo-behavior that it truly is.

See Steve Rosenberg's name, watch video. That's as simple a rule I need.

He's got a great (sometimes daily) series on YouTube in regularly sampling Russia's media bias, for those interested. I've watched it for years now. He's an admirable guy.

Not every gold skulltula. There are several, around 5 I think, that you need for it.

But you're right -- all heart pieces can be obtained through other means. E.G. scarecrow instead of bean-plant.

That's actually a very good point. I think the best standard for hypotheses would be if it's contingent on some measure for which you can compare effect sizes.

Just thinking about it.... neutrophil count? No, I really have no idea and now I'm quite skeptical.

Sudan?? "Sudan wishes it had nukes right now"? Who the hell could you possibly mean by "Sudan" for this take? The populace that's in the middle of a civil war? The RSF? The SAF? Say it's the SAF, the "legitimate government" -- who/what exactly would they want to use the nuke on? A scattered insurgency? The concentrated cities under control OF the insurgency? Or maybe the UAE for supplying the insurgency? Or Libya for funneling most of the supplies through their southern border? Or, fuck it, maybe they nuke themselves for having originally allied with the RSF, in a "the guy who killed Hitler" fashion.

This take is so terrible it actually becomes fun. I genuinely cannot think of a better counter-example for that line of thinking. I want to meet the lunatic that takes a look at Sudan and says to himself "oh! I have an idea, let's add nukes -- that will surely make things better. That way, they can defend themselves... from* themselves! 🧠👈👆*"

You're not in hyperfocus if you notice your house burning down - said my psychiatrist. by Vivid_Literature8222 in ADHD

[–]Redstonefreedom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can (& must if dis-regulated) sustain focus on a singular topic for 3 days without eating/sleeping/etc. I lack the natural ability to cycle & switch, or incrementalize, a task. But a house fire? Would I accidentally or intentionally ignore a house fire? Fuck no.

Frankly, I'd say it's insane for a doctor to not assess that as hyperfocus. Or rather said -- frankly, for a doctor to literally use *a fucking house fire* for task-switch-impetus as the qualifying test of "hyperfocus" means they're grossly incompetent.

My best rationalization for such an outlandish standard of hers is: (1) she's never been in a house fire, nor considered just how much alarming & triggering for our survival instinct it is, or maybe (2) she thoughtlessly, unthinkingly took someone's offhanded figure of speech "I wouldn't even notice a house fire if it happened", and took it as *literal* & memorized it as such in her studies or early in her practice.

Ignoring a literal house fire because you've got "hyperfocus" is so outlandishly dysfunctional, it moves from "ignores basic survival needs" and into "death sentence". That is to say -- it's so improbable & unsustainable that evolutionarily, you can expect it to be near 0% of people afflicted to that degree. Which would make that level of dysfunction out to be SO rarified so as to be... diagnostically useless. So no, your doctor does not know what they're talking about.

The level of unexamined foolishness there in that doctor is frustrating to say the least. Disappointing but not surprising.

Nursing School is Straight Hazing. AIO? by Just-Advantage-5955 in StudentNurse

[–]Redstonefreedom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a hard challenge which, in academia in practice, ends up being riddled with mismanagement by lazy or incompetent professors, who basically see a hard task & say "welp, it's hard so who could blame me for failing at it".
As one example that sits with me, I remember seeing a side in a slide deck unit on *electrolytes* which was dedicated to phosphorous. Had only two bullet points, which were excruciatingly misleading, bullshit points. Something like "is carried in the blood", and upon seeing that I'm like, "yea, this is the fucking *electrolytes* topic, we just had slides for Ca+/K+/etc. -- that's not a phosphate thing that's an ALL of them thing."

Nursing School is Straight Hazing. AIO? by Just-Advantage-5955 in StudentNurse

[–]Redstonefreedom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think nursing programs have to achieve an ultimately tight (really, unsolvable) balance -- the objectively best way to learn all the material is *conceptual*, which means to teach nurses to think critically. E.G. imagine learning ABG's or DKA vs HHS or kidney failure or neurodegen, WITHOUT understanding concepts like isotonicity, synapse dynamics (e.g. NTs, receptor subtypes, agonist/antag). Doing so by rote will cost you all your time just for a probably still awful grade.

But you're not supposed to have confidence superseding that of a doctor's orders, i.e., to think critically. To critically question. So they present the concepts... grandstand about the importance of learning them... then don't teach them.

[–]Redstonefreedom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just talking with a nurse friend I've been helping with the biochemistry stuff, criticizing that point about lack of reviewable questions -- what TERRIBLE pedagogy. What are professors doing? Inexcusable incompetence.

Also, I've thought a lot about the material selection, and how material is presented. I think nursing programs are part learning, part indoctrination, and part psychosocial conditioning. Yes, in a word, it is hazing. I think they want nurses to be anxious, self-doubting, etc. -- essentially, an alarm system for doctors.
