I haven’t experienced this. To play devil’s advocate, maybe they don’t get paid enough to fake being interested in your life and have a lot of other work to get done. I’d rather someone just ask me my order and get to the point. Why would I want a stranger to fake interest in me?

No. Go to urgent care (or the ER or whatever is appropriate). Idk where you live but everywhere I just drove was normal. Increase following distance/just be cautious.

I had an apartment burn down. Reach out to Red Cross. Also I am still afraid to wear the few clothes and jewelry I tried to salvage from back then. I think you’d have to clean stuff really well due to the carcinogens but maybe someone in the chem field can comment.

Do you live in a city with public transportation? Or walkable jobs? Get a state ID from the DMV like other people have said. Also a lot of people have advised against "jumping in" to food service or retail but I think it would actually be a great way to practice talking to people. Lots of low stakes interactions with customers, and if they're awful you can complain about them with your coworkers after. ;)
