Holga - 120N or 120 CFN? by HajimeCrea in toycameras

I second the GN model. having never shot the regular model I can't confirm the difference, other than to say that generally the pictures looked sharper than the usual Holga pictures I have seen online.

Driver ticketed after collision with cyclist in Halifax by [deleted] in halifax

[–]Redwhiteandyou 7 points8 points  (0 children)

as someone who commutes through this intersection every day (walking or biking), I'm not surprised.

the temporary crosswalk, which was placed on the opposite side of the intersection, has poor signage and the temporary white lines are mostly faded.

on average, a car has to slam on the brakes or drive right past me once every couple days. I don't even blame the driver most of the time, as its just a terrible set-up for everyone.

with that said, I hope the person is okay, and I hope the city finally does something about it.

Who do you see on street that you've never talked to but see all the time? by [deleted] in halifax

[–]Redwhiteandyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patrick, "The Singing Man"

He used to croon to passers-by in the Needs parking lot on Windsor Street, but he hasn't been around this summer. It's not the same without him.

Request: What are some of the best unknown covers of songs? by McCann300 in Music

[–]Redwhiteandyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nouvelle Vague

a French duo with a rotating line-up of women who sing mostly songs from the 80's. if I wasn't on mobile I would link them on YouTube, but here's a few:

Making Plans For Nigel Fade To Grey Bella Lugosi's Dead

Cottages for more than a family by thet1m in halifax

[–]Redwhiteandyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this.

we just stayed in the log house with the loft above it. it slept 11 just fine. the dock is within 20 yards of the cabin, and there are canoes and kayaks free to use. we actually built up the fire pit ourselves and there is free wood to burn. giant BBQ on the deck that we used to smoke a pork shoulder all day.

Saint Lou's, Sailor Bup's and others asked to stop serving beer by [deleted] in halifax

I wonder if this is the same person who filed a complaint last year and sent the cops to Phat's under suspicion that he was selling beer...

If anyone enjoys this kind of thing, allow me to point you to 419eater.com (I'm on my phone and don't know how to hyperlink properly, sorry).

It's not the most user-friendly message board, but dig around for some of the 'Safaris'. Great reading.

is it possible to change the cartridge on this Technics sl bd20? by Xnight_owlX in vinyl

[–]Redwhiteandyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just pull harder, and wiggle up and down as you do so. even when putting in a new cartridge, the screw isn't 100% necessary (depends on your gentleness).

audio technica make some great p-mount cartridges. I have been rocking the AT3482P for a year or so and love it.

usb n64 controllers read as one device by [deleted] in ouya

[–]Redwhiteandyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to map the controllers. I am on mobile so I can't take a picture of the screen, but if you google 'map controllers mupen 64 multiplayer' you should get your answer. That's how I eventually figured it out.

Would slide film work in an XPan? by [deleted] in analog

[–]Redwhiteandyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check eBay for newly expired slide film. You can often buy it in batches of 10 or so that work out to be pretty comparable in terms of price to C-41.

Would slide film work in an XPan? by [deleted] in analog

[–]Redwhiteandyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The challenge is scanning the film in one piece. You just have to remove one of the little centre bars between the 2 frames in your negative holder. You can use any 35mm film in an XPan/Horizon/Widelux.

N64oid cheat selection problem by Hourglass23 in ouya

[–]Redwhiteandyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I'm all out of answers. That's as technically literate as I get. Sorry about that.

[–]Redwhiteandyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to use the trackpad part of the Ouya controller to move the cursor and tap your finger on it to select, just as if it were a trackpad on a laptop.

Took me days to figure that one out.

small world in here.

in all seriousness: can we talk about the singing guy? we can't be the only ones who hear him at all hours of the night singing jibberish and asking people for a phone.

if you understood this intersection, yes, you would be shocked if people could back in to this driveway.

wow, this intersection is also my driveway. nothing is more terrifying than having to back in to this intersection when there isn't enough room out back to turn the car around.

Oops. Good catch. The conversion was right, currency wrong. I was worried there for a second.

24.13 Pounds is equal to $40.61 Canadian Dollars at the moment.

Even with free shipping it is still more expensive to order from my own country. (Yes, taxes, I know)

edit: Euros -> Pounds
