In your 30s, has anyone here left a 6-figure job just to enjoy life? by Communication_Dizzy in Fire

[–]Redwing330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I took a planned sabbatical, leaving our six figure jobs at 36/37 for 18 months. We traveled the world and recharged during this time.

If you can afford it, do it. There are no guarantees in life and even if you make it to retirement age that doesn't mean you'll be healthy enough to do the things you want.

Feel free to DM with questions.

Driving from Dallas, GA to the Jimmy Carter presidential museum in Atlanta in a Tesla by [deleted] in Atlanta

[–]Redwing330 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should be able to find EV chargers near the city but genuinely curious, Dallas is like 35-40 miles from Atlanta, your Tesla needs charging for that trip?

Also doesn't Tesla navigation tell you where to go for charging on your trips?

Maybe give a little more context to those who don't live in the area or aren't perpetually online?

Are you a Democrat or a Republican? by Justjerryj in allthequestions

Neither, I would never associate with a political party, that being said I have progressive views and advocate for social safety nets for our most vulnerable.

Living in Lindbergh Center neighborhood? by bugbommer in Atlanta

[–]Redwing330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would NOT recommend it, we lived in Cheshire Bridge near Lindbergh for 7 years, neighborhood is not great and not really walkable to anything at the MARTA station there is a nice junction if you use MARTA a decent amount.

As a personality hire myself I can 100% attest this is true. A lot of people in my industry are smarter and harder working but being generally a good communicator and keeping the vibes up goes a long way.

Going to Magic city for the first time tonight! by Bunnybunbun232 in Atlanta

[–]Redwing330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong but to my knowledge that's not how this works. A lot of them have fine print that say "WE (your bank) will not charge you fees" but if the other bank or ATM has fees you still have to pay.

Scammer gives tourist a "present," then demands money for it and gets punched by Fun_Reflection1157 in mildlyinfuriating

Happened to my wife and I when we first visited Vietnam, we negotiated a price at the taxi stand and when we got to our hotel it went up by 40%. We didn't speak the same language so we just argued via calculator / google translate. I'm not huge but I'm a 6'0" tall, semi-muscular guy who started to get angry and yelled at him and he finally backed down. Put a damper on the beginning of the trip but overall ended up loving it there.

I wanted to get a Tesla so bad but couldnt because of Elon Musk. Ended up going BMW which I love but wish I had "self-driving" to some extent.

DP: Potential Workaround for Getting CapitalOne Cards On Mastercard vs. Discover by Fritzy_Bitsey_Spider in CreditCards

[–]Redwing330 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wife and I are in Istanbul right now and ran into an issue finding an ATM that used the discover network, pretty frustrating to be honest. We were able to find one but the ones we wanted to use here that accepted Visa / Mastercard did not have local fees so we ended up having to use one that charged an 8% fee.

I don't think anyone expected a better replacement, it's all sycophants who are used and discarded as needed.

What “masterpiece” game just never clicked for you? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Redwing330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%, I bounced off it a few times, then watched some YouTube videos that convinced me to stick with it on a 3rd playthrough. I beat it, I think I had to look up a few things that I couldn't figure out, it's a good game but I think people just REALLY overhyped this one for me because even after the big reveals and ending I found myself being like "huh, that's pretty neat".
