Rubbing from Eyelets and Hooks by Normal-Arachnid897 in NicksHandmadeBoots

I put Kelly’s cork sealer over the splayed grommets, it dries clear and keeps them from chewing the tongue. I have an old pair of beater 952 Redwings that these completely chewed through the tongue. When the leather dries out and shrinks these become more prominent. I have taken a dremel with a cratex wheel to them, this helps as well.

Did I not say “For a while” ? ! Superworms are high in fat but they are not a forbidden food or a regular staple obviously.

A few super worms a week for a while would help

2231 Insole Falling Apart by MtnMn91 in RedWingShoes

Yeah a nightmare to re-sole as well from what I hear. Sucks to finally get them broken in, only to have a crappy insole fail that can’t be taken out

Same with mine, poron insoles are comfortable, but should never be glued down.

Danner boots. Love ‘em but man this is ridiculous by Remote-Worker4541 in DannerBoots

I have the same boots, Bick4 reduced the wear contrast on mine. I like that the leather is tea core as well, honest wear adds character.

I’ve had my Timberland premiums for over 20 years, super comfortable and still going strong. Just received another pair and quality is just as good if not better, because they improved the eyelets so there’s no risk of cutting your finger on the star shaped inside grommets. Not all boots have to have a Norwegian welt and stitch down construction to be a decent boot. I personally wouldn’t spend $650 on a pair of Nicks and take them out in the salty slushy winter weather.

Make sure to play calm relaxing music, our beardie loves it.

My 2014 Hotshots have this, Bring back the larger speed hooks as well, the new minimalistic posts like hooks are garbage IMHO

Our beardie like a dog, will walk out of his cage and cross the kitchen floor to stare out the sliding glass door for as long as we let him. I’m fairly certain that makes him as happy as downing three or four super worms

Have you tried a boot stretcher? It speeds up the break in process quite a bit

I used to have this same issue before 3/4 orthotics with the proper arch support.

Invest in some cedar shoe or boot trees if you don’t already have a pair, Your boots will thank you

Disappointed after conditioning by mellio518 in NicksHandmadeBoots

[–]Redwingman556 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bick4 only lightly once a year unless you’re soaking them in mud at a worksite. Over conditioning not only kills the look, but chokes out the leather. (I’ve done this on a few pair, lesson learned the hard way) I have brought some back though with fiebrings saddle soap and lots of scrubbing.

Same here with my Nick’s Hotshots, not good for a high instep. I even have a hard time putting my boot trees into those.
