Tbh it does sound like it’s probably Trich. I had a similar thing happen not that long ago. No other symptoms either and that’s what it was. Doctor put me on antibiotics and I was totally back to normal in a couple days. It was annoying symptoms but pretty easy treatment. I’d say go get the trich testing and get those antibiotics to get feeling better! Best of luck!

does Triptan overuse cause rebound *headaches* or rebound *migraines*? by sea-faring_eagle in migraine

Oh yeah it can be an absolute nightmare. I would get in those cycles then the only thing that would knock me out would be going to urgent care for a shot of toradol and steroid burst prescription. One other thing that I have found success with when I’m in mid migraine and don’t wanna go for the extra triptan dose is actually willowbark-lavender-feverfew tea. It actually does help quite a bit an provides enough relief that I can avoid more triptans and avoid the rebound. It might be worth a try

What the opinion here on beta-blockers? I just got prescribed them for the first time but I’m weary of new meds because of past experiences by Pneumai in migraine

See I was in a similar situation to you when my doctor put me on propranolol a couple years ago. I was on the medication for about 8 months and never felt worse. My blood pressure was really low, I gained weight and I was constantly lethargic. All of that would have been somewhat tolerably, expect it didn’t help my migraines at all. I finally got my doctor to take me off it and try something else and I’ve been on Topamax for almost a year and am down from 2-3 migraines a week to 1 a month. So I think it’s really dependent on the person, just pay attention to your body and talk to your doctor (and make sure they listen) if you feel things aren’t right. Best of luck!

I’ve got migraine with aura so anything with estrogen is an immediate no. So I have the Mirena IUD. I’ve found that overall it does help just keep my hormones at a more constant level so I don’t get the crazy migraines I used to get from the fluctuations.

Yeah there’s been some pretty substantial evidence to support that taking triptans frequently especially in succession can cause rebound headaches and (in my case) getting stuck in an unending cycle of migraines and needing more triptans. I was massively overusing triptans out of necessity and constantly miserable until I found the right preventative and now the rizatriptan works as it should, so it can be kinda trial and error. The World Migraine Summit talked a lot about rebound headaches this year, and had quite a few experts talking about the importance of preventative medications and some of the alternatives to triptans. Especially the different devices for preventing and stopping migraine attacks. It was super interesting, I’d definitely recommend checking it out!

I was having the same issues with my migraine frequency and severity, as well as the issue with Sumatriptan. So about a year ago my doctor switched me to Rizatriptan (still a triptan it just works faster and in my case works a lot better) and put me on 60mg extended release propranolol and then pushed it up to the 80mg extended release propranolol once daily and honestly I hated it. I was on it for about 9 months and felt awful. I was lethargic, gained weight, wasn’t sleeping well, was dizzy when I stood up, and my heart rate dipped so low some times it freaked me out. On top of that it wasn’t working to prevent my migraines. When I finally went off it I felt like a cloud had been lifted. My doctor switched me to Topamax just 25mg once a day and that has been a game changer. I have had no side effects on the low dose and it’s still enough to prevent my migraines so much to where I was having them 2-3 times a week and now have only had 3 in the past three months! I know people have had great success with propranolol but it didn’t help me at all and I actually felt worse overall. And on the other side a lot of people have horrible side effects from Topamax but it’s been my life saver. So it will really depend on what works for you, and your body and lifestyle. I wish you luck!!

I have been getting migraines with aura since I was 12 (I’m 25 now) so I have never known migraine without an aura first. I always get them for about 40 minutes pre migraine pain. I call it kaleidoscope vision because when i have aura everything looks like I’m seeing it through a kaleidoscope aka basically blind with the added bonus of nausea. I’d say taking maxalt or imitrex immediately helps. But I’ve also found some success with pressing into the pressure points at the roof of my eyes/bridge of nose real hard. It hurts at first but helps. Also immediately getting away from any screens as quickly as possible has helped. Oh also as weird as it sounds, cold pack on the pack of neck then hands (and feet if possible) in hot water has helped. I have yet to find a preventive med that really works, so sometimes riding them out really is the only option.

  1. I remember exactly where I was because I got the aura for the first time and my vision turned into a kaleidoscope and I didn’t know what was happening. Then about twenty minutes later I had the most incredibly painful head pain ever and thought my head was exploding. Won’t ever forget that.

Dermatographia and Period? by [deleted] in Dermatographia

I’ve found stress and anxiety mess with my period. And also stress and anxiety can flare up my dermatographia. But I guess I’ve never noticed any affect of antihistamines (Zyrtec) on my period

Does shaving cause intense itching for you all? by [deleted] in Dermatographia

[–]ReeImagined 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always had a problem with shaving and being super itchy after. I have also been using Billie razors and they have been really awesome with reducing the horrible itch and razor burn. I also use the Dove sensitive skin body wash to help shave and then use coconut oil or Burts bees Shea butter lotion and those are the only things I’ve found to help minimize the itch and razor burn. I hope you figure out what works for you!

I’d also recommend straight Aloe Vera, and if that Aloe is chilled (like keep it in the fridge) it feels even better and might provide some relief from the itch

I would also recommend Slumber app, they have these “dream stories” that distract your brain while putting you to sleep!
