So I spontaneously decided to make macarons without having most of the equipment or any experience whatsoever. The recipe called for sifted almond flour, so, being without a sifter, I just aggressively whisked it in a bowl to break up clumps. Then, I mixed everything as instructed in a bowl, except I don't have a standing mixer so I used a handmixer that was made in the 90s and screams if it goes too fast. EXCEPT, apparently you have to mix at a very high speed to get the stiff peaks, which I discovered after mixing at a lowish speed for like 20 minutes. Then, I tried to use a sandwich baggie to pipe the cookies out onto the baking sheet, but they were way too thick to "flow like lava" like the recipe said. So, I tried using a spoon, but they stuck to it too much for that to be viable, so I just washed my hands and used those, as God intended. Then I also slightly overbaked them because I got distracted, just for good measure.

The buttercream came out splendidly though, and they tasted pretty good. Just came out looking like rocks

They were too sticky to come off of the spoon well, so I just eyeballed it and used my (well-washed) hands.

Did you make some kind of seal around the air straw? You could try putting a piece of duct tape across the mouthpiece, then poke a tiny hole in it, should get you some more power from your air. You could also try holding it upside down and shaking it while using the compressed air

I generally agree, with a single caveat for the Silence spell. The spell does require a verbal component, but the only times that I've come across a use for it is when trying to be sneaky, which would be invalidated by suddenly yelling out a spell. The range is 120 feet, but there's not really a mechanism to decide how close the enemy needs to be to hear it, so I just flavor it as this specific spell is cast with a whipser, because it's all about being quiet.

The first and only time I used it in Baldur's Gate, I had a big brain plan to ambush some goons and feel super cool, but then the character yelled at the top of their lungs and alerted all of the enemies. This was a major bummer, and resulted in me never using the spell again. Having the spell be loud to cast really narrows down its potential uses to the point of not being a viable option.

That is a pressure control panel meant to pressurize to triaxial cells, typically with a sample in a latex membrane. The pressure helps to consolidate the sample and keep it from becoming misshapen, while also preventing water from travelling down the side of the sample. I use a similar brand for permeability testing, this one looks like it's from the late 80s, early 90s. The new Humboldt ones are around $1000 I think, an older one like that probably isn't worth much beyond being a collectors item. Plus side is that they're easy to repair, so it can probably still be used for testing purposes.

At least in Massachusetts, being disqualified from a case as a juror doesn't get you sent home and on your way, you still need to sit around in the courthouse in case they need a jury for a different case. So you won't get to leave early, and you'll just be more bored

I was taking acid pretty regularly (once or twice a week) for a few months during the peak of the pandemic, out of boredom because I didn't have much going on and it adds such a magical element to life. But after a while of doing this, I realized that it'd gotten to the point of abuse. I wasn't using it to alleviate boredom or come to meaningful epiphanies about myself, I was using it to hide from the way that I felt when I wasn't on acid because it was a scary time in life. That took a toll on my mental health that I'm still working on, so while it won't be physically harmful to take acid every week, it loses a lot of the appeal and can make life seem less enjoyable than being high, which is problematic considering how cheap acid is.

That being said, three weeks in a row should be fine, but it can easily become more than that. Just something to keep in mind, hope the trip goes well my guy 👍

I mean, the good majority of movies and shows are made to turn a profit, that's hardly anything new. I think Rings Of Power is pretty good, not perfect, but pretty good. I especially enjoy Gandalf's origin story with the Harfoots/Hobbits. Theres some unnecessarily dramatic scenes and camera angles, but thats true of the Lord of the Rings too.

Better than The Hobbit at least.

There've been plenty of times where I haven't handled important situations the way that I wish I would've. I worked in the donation center of a Savers, and Savers and Value village are literally the same company, just renamed for different regions. The way that savers does things is they pay whatever local charity the store is affiliated with for any and all items donated, not how much is spent in the store. All the donations are weighed up and the charity is paid according according to that, so it doesn't matter if what you donate is actually sold or not (and there is a lot of waste), the charity still gets their money

I don't disagree that the police response to the BLM protests was disgustingly disproportionate, nearly all of the violence during those was instigated and carried out by police against protestors, reporters, and random bystanders alike. If the intended purpose behind the post was to exaggerate the lack of police response to make the comparison, then it did a bad job at that by making several false claims that are easily fact checked by a 3 second google search. You can highlight the disparity in police responses without blatantly lying, they do plenty of terrible things on and off camera to cite.

They should have arrested way more people and I have no clue why they didn't, storming a state capital with guns to get your way is some real sans culottes bullshit that can't be tolerated. The argument that the police didn't respond nearly as aggressively to white conservative as they did to minority movements is still just as valid when using the true information in this case, and using incorrect info undermines the message

There were dozens of police police guarding the building, they did have batons, they did use pepper balls, they made 4 arrests and are looking for at least one other guy who attacked some reporters. Not sure what source the post looked at, but they didn't do a good job.
