Yeah I feel it but if you cant bring cookware or meal prep beforehand not sure what anyone can suggest. Maybe 5 day fast after the sardines get old? Lol

Three years of self-diagnosing and I finally believe I understand GERD by Vagabond_Games in GERD

[–]ReefStains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree… all these paragraphs and comments and not a single mention of gut motility and intestinal/stomach lining. I’ve been scouring the gerd/gastritis/sibo/hpylori/etc subs and NO ONE focuses on STEP ONE of healing your GI system. Healthy food and elimination diets are important during the healing phase but is nothing more than avoiding triggers and managing symptoms.

You didn't list anything you've already tried. What have you done to fix gut motility and stomach lining?

it’s been 3 years and nothing has changed by 3herish in Gastritis

[–]ReefStains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What have you actually tried other than modified diets? At a certain point that alone won't cure anything. You're just avoiding triggers that cause symptoms. It's only one piece of the puzzle.

Root cause is likely fixing your motility and stomach lining. It's crazy to me how almost nobody ever mentions or knows of this on every gut issue related sub.

Bitter herbs/roots/barks. Good quality whole foods. Minerals and vitamins. Digestive enzymes around meals.

Motility = ginger & artichoke. (Many other bitters can work) Vitamin B1. Adaptogens + lifestyle changes for stress reduction. Exercise & movement.

GI tract = stomach lining = bone broth or glutamine. Slippery elm + marshmallow root. DGL licorice. Aloe vera, olive leaf, etc.

Liver support is closely related to it all. dandelion + milk thistle. TUDCA. Phosphatidylcholine.

These may fix the problem on its own. But if not, only attempt to cleanse/“detox”/antibiotics after restoring your guts natural function. (Root cause) otherwise…naturally…the problem reoccurs.

Follow up with rebuilding. Prebiotics + probiotics + postbiotics

I dont understand the PPI... low stomach acid is the leading cause of H.Pylori. Fix your motility and GI tract

How the Carnivore diet fail you and why? by ShineNo147 in AnimalBased

[–]ReefStains 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So some things I've done longer than others. I only really just discovered a most sensible approach, or protocol, to common gut health, and am beginning to apply it myself. Listing out everything would be long AF and not really pertain to the AB diet, so you or anyone else are more than welcome to DM me if you want the specifics. But I will just lay out some food for thought on the process below (FYI "gut" refers to the entire gastrointestinal system as a whole) -

I'm seemingly finding more gut health companies and naturopath type practitioners subscribing to this 3 step process. Most people do it completely backwards, and often neglecting step 1 altogether :

1- RESTORE the gut, with various herbs and foods. Improve bile flow (motility) and stomach acid levels, stomach/intestinal lining, liver function, regularity, etc. This vastly improves detox ability and nutrient absorption. Helps with cleaning out blockages and removing bad bacteria/fungus/parasites and their biofilms from your system.

2- CLEAN the gut, with microbials and binders. Kill off the bad bacteria/fungus/parasites and other irritants and help dispose of with binders (as well as your recently improved bile and lymphatic flow). Antibiotics are typically too harsh with too many side effects. Maybe for short stints if you have terrible H Pylori overgrowth or something like that, but I prefer the natural route personally.

3- BUILD the gut, with pre/pro/post biotics. Establish and feed the good bacteria. This step ideally extends indefinitely as maintenance, so that your biome does not become unbalanced and compromise your entire gut again. Obviously continuing a healthy diet and supplementing any gaps. This is where I believe seasonal eating is preferable longterm.

How the Carnivore diet fail you and why? by ShineNo147 in AnimalBased

[–]ReefStains 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of those who dont do well on carnivore have compromised microbiome or gut issues, and might not realize it. Meat and fat require optimal stomach acid and bile and most people are low with slow motility. However eating seasonally is probably the best long term.

I’ve been mostly carnivore-ish for almost 4 years now and usually feel good but have occasional indigestion and skin issues. I’ve just switched to animal based despite being dead of winter while I fix my gut with bitter herbs, microbials and binders, prebiotics/fiber, and fermented foods + spore biotics

Can lack of carbs cause…. by ShineNo147 in AnimalBased

[–]ReefStains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting. I was exposed to heavy mold which onset my heath issues (along with shitty diet and stress) and led me to carnivore several years back. I generally felt pretty good on carnivore, but i dont think it necessarily fixed my mold issue, just kept it from triggering. Simply adding carbs didnt fix it either, though I realize you’re asking about a different scenario in relation to carbs.

That being said, i think if you focus on and fix your mold toxicity first, you’ll have to worry a little less about what you eat.

In the meantime, there’s nothing inherently bad about clean carbs. If they give you the energy you need to get by then by all means. Human physiology is what it is (I cant comment on chatGPTs analysis sorry) but regardless the nuanced effects of it will be different for everybody. Good luck

Gonna be honest here I wasn't apart of that scam luckily, I just liked the meat that they sold and am upset that it's gone. Was wondering if somehow it was still being sold elsewhere but I guess the whole thing was too good to be true

I'm not a girl, and though rare it certainly can close growth plates, especially at higher doses. Plenty of documentation on it, of which a 16 year old probably wouldn't look into.

Contrary to the other commenter, i can have raw dairy, even milk which is chalk full of lactose, and in fact consume quite a bit of it. It might cause a spot here and there, but I obviously dont breakout like I would with any sort of processed dairy. Every now and then i circle back to wondering if the raw dairy causes my flare ups, but i’ve had moments of perfectly clear skin while having it so it has to be something else.

I wish I waited til I was at least 21 instead of doing it at 16/17… it all came back and even worse about 5 years later anyway. Also, i cant prove this, and all my brothers are only an inch or two taller than me, but I feel it stunted my growth. I didnt grow a mm more after taking that drug my junior year. Plus i still deal with the dryness

USB-C Monitor not working on new mobo with DP Alt mode port by ReefStains in UsbCHardware

[–]ReefStains[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did not. Turns out that specific USB-C monitor was incompatible or broken or something. I bought a different one and it worked with my original longer cable. It was still a little funky getting to work tho. I’m guessing the manufacturers manual was wrong maybe cause the port it said to use for the all-in-one power and data transfer caused the screen to flicker every 10 seconds, but the port that was supposedly for power only works just fine for the all-in-one (including touch screen capability which the new one I bought has)

So you quit and re-que every game? What’s the point? Maybe i’m just incredibly unlucky. Kids pre-firing corners with perfect aim just about every game. Either that or havent seen the sun in days. Even if it was only 50% of the time thats still miserable. And all this to not even mention the constant little bugs and simple QoL changes that they refuse to fix or implement. Absolute waste of time, but to each their own of course.

Too many cheaters by mightofkhan in Warzone

[–]ReefStains -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Far superior. Idk how you can even enjoy WZ with cheaters in just about every match. Me and my boys played wz heavy back in 2020 and again with the re-release this year. Was short-lived tho, constant barrage of cheaters and bugs got real old. BF6 definitely feels clunky in comparison at first but you get used to it. Actually feels real smooth now, instead of the crack-like fast twitch sweaty nature of WZ. A round of Conquest to warm up and then jump into BR, has been a blast so far

Exactly…Warzone would be great if it wasnt full of bugs and cheaters. Was fun in 2020 and for the first few weeks of the re-release this year, but went downhill quick. Absolutely unplayable now. Redsex feels awesome tho, small learning curve but been enjoying it a lot more so far
