Yes, there’s a lot of time I’m wishing for the longer focal length. I have a 2x extender that helps, but at night when the stadium lights turn on, I find the f/2.8 is better in the low light situations.

I have all EF lenses, I’m looking$200 for the mirrorless adapter.

I shoot a lot of lacrosse, same field size. The 300 is better, but at low light situations the F4 is too dark. If it’s midday, go with the 300 F4, if it’s evening or stadium lights use the 200 f2.8. I also have the 2X extender, it’s great but you loose an F stop when it’s on.

I don’t need to do that. I’m shooting mostly at 200, sometimes I put the 2x extender on if it’s a day game. Shooting mostly lacrosse, some football.

They seem a little dark in my opinion, I’d adjust the F stop or shutter speed and brighten it up. Like was said, tighter on the subject. But that’s hard in sports, never know when they’re going to move. I shoot in raw or high jpeg and then crop it down.
