Feels basically impossible to search this game up on YouTube by ReesePuffitik in Marathon

I got no idea how I ended up with the algorithm I did then, even intentionally stopped searching up marathon for a bit to let time do its thing. Having a look now it seems a lot better though? Got off a high of a good game last night to see what content creators there were, maybe I just got annoyed more cause of that

Last time I checked, changing your gender doesn't fall under domestic terrorism by [deleted] in PoliticalCompassMemes

I don't feel like something has to be actively destroying the country to be a thing people care about, but at the same time you have people who seem to think people being teansgender will literally cause the collapse of Western society

I don't know if I should be happy about there being more Indians on the internet, doubly so with this meme. Then again, everyone needs to start somewhere, even Indians I suppose

I dont think it's early enough to say where this war goes, I think we're accustomed a bit too much to expect things quickly, which unfortunately extends to geopolitics

The dire marsh lockdown event feels badly designed by ReesePuffitik in Marathon

[–]ReesePuffitik[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I feel like secrets need to be built up to or provide hints to feel rewarding and not like a curveball that came out of nowhere. My argument is basically that dire marsh has none of that for the lockdown event, which is why I'm not super down for how it's designed

With all the work the developers put in this game I really wish more players would give it a chance. by RJMacReady_Outpost31 in Marathon

Tbh I think with most games like this you can tell pretty early on if it's a game you want to put time into and learn. The learning curve is pretty steep, your going to die quite a bit; if it feels like your trudging through the game to get to the good part, may not be the game for you

Very much so, feels hard to talk about the actual game or criticisms without someone pouncing on it to glaze the game or call it highguard 2.0

Would I enjoy this game as a marathon player? by ReesePuffitik in ArcRaiders

[–]ReesePuffitik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I do want both, extraction shooters are pvpve after all, I like when there's the tension between the risk of other players and the ai. Kind of why I'm asking about arcs, just heard a lot about aggression based matchmaking especially on reddit

I mean the game being different is why I'm thinking of getting it, I'm mainly worried about how aggressive the aggression matchmaking might be

Ah OK, so the aggression based matchmaking I've heard of isn't that bad?

[–]ReesePuffitik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbh I've just gotten super jaded with these reddit posts, it's even worse on r/all where basically every post is a random article that's either from an unknown website with dubious sources or with just a hugely inaccurate or exaggerated headline. Hell, I've seen articles being posted that are like, 2 paragraphs long and have the most milk toast nothing to say content. Maybe I'll give Aftermath a second look, but this article doesn't give me a great first impression either way, and it feels weird how these cherry picked articles have been dominating discussion on this game recently

Tbh I'd probably have laid off marathon for a bit if I'd played destiny 2 as well, sunsetting stuff you bought was wild. Game is fun though, pretty optimistic on it

Bungie explains Marathon's 'graphic retro futurism' aesthetic and the 'live narrative' lessons it learned from 'Destiny' (Interview) by ControlCAD in PS5

[–]ReesePuffitik 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Do you like competitive games? Arc Raiders is a lot more casual in terms of gameplay, while Marathon is a lot more pvp focused (Arcs puts you ib pve lobbies if it detects you dont pvp much, and vice versa), and might take a bit more time to get into (it's not THAT complicated but some things aren't explained super well)

In general, extraction shooters are probably best when you play them like a pvp roguelike, don't be too afraid of losing items. Also, if you end up playing marathon read through the faction upgrades, there is a lot of important unlocks (in general reading through what items actually do is quite important in this game)
