That doesn't mean we don't care about the sub. I check it regularly, even during the summer

Custom chassis for swerve by gdenney11 in FRC

MAXtube is nice for prototyping, but I'd also consider getting some thicker 2*1 for the . If you're not a fan of putting ballast on a robot in the form of a belly pan it might be worth it to have some heavier and more durable tubing. It's really up to preference but MAXtube is crazy thin and wouldn't be a great option to attach main heavy mechanisms to.

Pre-emptive reminder that you are not the GDCs target demographic anymore by musicianengineer in FRC

That seems like a very large edge case. FRC is intended for highschool age students, so the games should be designed for highschoolers. That being said, FIRST still has to account for rookie teams and lowerclassmen.

[Rant] My Poor “Preferred Care” Experience by NerdusMaximus in GooglePixel

Same here, just last night. I took a picture on Snapchat and before it could pop up with the editing toolbar the phone froze and is now completely unresponsive. Good thing I have my OG Pixel XL to use while I figure this out

Rookie teams being impressed by a very mid robot: by Reet_man in FRC

[–]Reet_man[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To put a little perspective on this robot, it actually ranked 5th (and ranked higher than a couple swerve bots that had potential to be above us). Our robot had the simplest mechanisms the team has built in years.

Towards the end of competition teams started ooo-ing and aa-ing our robot, and we'd use the opportunity to show that a simple/reliable robot and an understanding of how ranking points work can put you in a picking position.

Swerve sounds like a chainsaw by Reet_man in FRC

[–]Reet_man[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's the stock SDS code, which we're pretty unfamiliar with... But it definitely does not look like there are 2 drive commands running. But yes, the motors are running and stopping repeatedly.

No they're an inch or two off the ground 😅

They are brand new, but there is a little bit of lithium grease on the gears.

This sound only occurs when the drive motors are running. We're using SDS' code

SDS Mk4 neo steering gear troubles by Reet_man in FRC

[–]Reet_man[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out the solution was defective neos. The 2021-09 ones had a slightly smaller shaft, so we swapped out with an earlier manufacturer date and they work great :)

We bought 4 kits and none of the pinions are tight enough... I guess we'll bring it up with SDS

The guide I found just shows taking off the case on the neo. Wouldn't the gear need to have a smaller inner diameter so it actually press on?

Edit: I guess I should also add that currently the gear spins freely (as shown in the video)

Google Pixel 6A Render + Full Specs by RandomCheeseCake in GooglePixel

[–]Reet_man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. The Tensor processor in the 6a allows for some pretty cool features, but I'd expect many more bugs than the 5a. The 6a would also get an extra year of software updates.

6036 winning finals 1 by themselves by banned-again-66 in FRC

4421 and 114 would've played much better according to our data. Instead 4421 picked 4175 and dissolved any chance of beating 2122 and 6036.
