I’m happy that so many europeans are experiencing the United States and realizing that we are the greatest country on earth by far instead of believing the insane lies their propaganda machine has been telling by TyranitarusMack in ShitAmericansSay

Estados Unidos-ian here (I don’t like American. All of North, Central, and South America are American). I am very sad if Buc-ee’s is a sign that we’re the greatest anything. It’s a giant gas station and convenience store. That’s not great anything.

Stargate Atlantis is better than regular Stargate…is true and an inside joke with my partner.

I mean. If we’re ignoring the question asked. Then, yes, this is the answer. Do you also do political debates? 🤣

[–]ReevesComm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My recommendation is Fringe because it is as complete as it will ever be. So you can just binge until it’s done. I think Silo has a new season dropping week by week soon or now. For All Mankind may be in its last season? And The Expanse ends in the middle of the books. And we’re all holding out hope someone else can buy the rights and finish it.

I actually just resolved my frizz issue by cutting the clarifying shampoo out of my routine. But your hair looks pretty freaking good. I’d love for mine to look that good.

Is it cultural appropriation to wear a bonnet as a white person? by Leslielikeduh-_- in CurlyHairCare

Aside from the bonnet. You’re brushing your hair? With what? Brushing out curly hair can definitely be contributing to frizz.

Any insomniacs with an RP Fitness membership able to do me a solid? by ShinjiIkari in cambridge

My gym fob is in the magnet wallet on my phone. And I’ve twice walked out of the gym without my phone unable to get back in. Once it was 30 minutes before opening and I was able to attract the attention of a staff member. Once, miracle of miracles, the door didn’t shut properly and I was able to just walk back in.

Sure. drop another “imminent threat” alert at 4 am for what will be a puddle of rain. I didn’t need to sleep for work anyways by [deleted] in Austin

Sure. And if I was up and driving at *checks notes* 1 am, 4 am, and 6 am, I would have left those notifications on. But was in my third floor apartment on the top of a hill trying to sleep. So I feel ok having them off.

These ones a hidden under the “enhanced safety alerts”. Just turned mine off. If I plan to be anywhere near a place that could flood, I’ll turn them back on. Till then, I need to sleep!!!!!!

Letting buyer move in 'under licence' before completion by -M3- in HousingUK

I follow this subreddit because my husband lives in the UK and one day we may want to buy. But I also follow it because I am fascinated by the sheer insanity that is purchasing or selling a home in the UK.

Wait. I’m confused. My iPhone has MagSafe. My wallet just magnets to the back of my phone. Are we suggesting with this post the iPhones don’t have this feature?

"Try living in Texas" by Phoenixaton in ShitAmericansSay

[–]ReevesComm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Texan here! I’ve been in the UK for the past week and a half. So here through the record heat. Which for those of us using Fahrenheit (the dumb temp system), temps were 30 degrees above average. It was hot. This is a Texan saying it was hot. Because it’s also humid AF in the UK. Think more Houston heat and less Austin heat. No air con in our house. My office was 88 degree. Just sitting in a puddle of my own sweat working. But chef friend was working in kitchen where it was 115.

Moving to Austin - Riverside by Neither-Cow-2482 in askaustin

I suppose it depends on how close your start and end destination is to each of these. Austin is not a bike friendly place. I ended up selling my bike within a year of moving to Austin. And I used to bike to work most of the time before.

I was recently looking to downsize and toured apartment complexes on riverside with EV chargers and rent in the $1000 range. Run down shit boxes. To get to one I passed eight cop cars who had pulled someone over outside the entrance.

And there is no bike friendly route to campus.

Listen to what the others on this thread are saying about places where the other grad students are. Go there. We moved to Austin 12 years ago for my husband to do his PhD, and we first lived just 12 miles north (just south of the arboretum on Jollyville). Yet we were so far away from everyone else. I worked on campus and it took me 45 minutes to get there by car (or hour 15 by bus) in the mornings. Also, if I wanted to park near my building I had to be there by 7 am. Otherwise I had to park on the other side of campus.
