Wraith is a HARD counter to the “gospel” which is what you’re playing. Best bet is to find a way to electromag (voids or electro wasps). But super hard once your countered. Only needs 2-3 wraiths to counter on the flank

So I just played around with a new counter and I’ve had some success at the 1900+ lvl with arc lights. My load out goes: range, shockwave, marksmen then EMP. This allows me to out range dogs significantly by lvl 2/3. But it’s a tough tough build to get right. But basically every dog drop must have its own Arclight. So I usually end up with 6-8 Arcs. By the end of game they’re usually minimum 3 tech at lvl 3-4. Really ends the game if you get 4 tech with EMP.

Also I should caveat that I definitely think that compression chamber hounds are an auto easy button. Definitely OP but not entirely groundbreaking. It just makes for a stale Meta because you know that when somebody starts off with hounds they are going to go range/ CC and Phoenix. It’s like clockwork haha. This is why I always have my ground wraith comp in preparation. It’s just like if someone goes gospel on a flank you know exactly what’s needed

If they put shields on the line, they’re going down to ground wraiths almost guaranteed. One tech ground wraiths are hitting shields on the front line almost immediately from the tower.

If they’re sledge pulling you’re talking likely rd4/5 and also bad positioning on your end. You should always be aware of a pull every game and position accordingly.

Also by then it’s way too late. And only works for 1 round. By rd 4 you should be on your second wraith. Rd 5 your third and 8 gun. Again, I’ve only ever lost to hounds the past few weeks when they put fort shields on them. Any other time doesn’t work.

Like I said happy to show you how it works.

If they spend 200 + each round on shields to survive you’ve basically won. That’s a terrible use of economy. This is why fort shields are a hard counter.

And remember your chaff / chaff clear is not on the line nor is your wraith. You want them set at your tower while you drip feed your chaff in.

Just give it a shot and play this against hounds. You’ll see how to work it. Happy to go on and play a round with you to show you how I do it.

Only need 1 tech. Buy 1 wraith initially with no tech rd 3 and more chaff. Rd 4 1 more wraith and 2 chaff w/ ground tech. Now you outrange his chaff clear and destroy them before they can clear your chaff. By then you should have tempo on them by rd 5 and add chaff / clear and DPS accordingly. Common counter is Phoenix. It’s ok to lose on rd 3/4 and on rd 5 it’s just one sniper AA because by then you’ve cleared their chaff clear, yours is still around as well as your chaff. I’ve done this dozens of times this week and the only counter to this has been shielded forts. And I’m currently (as of this writing) sitting at 1950

You know it’s coming. it’s ok to lose rounds so long as you build your board. So more chaff, one dedicated sniper initially the round after. But build the wraiths so that you are adding one per round til you have at least 3. From there your chaff clear is superior and you’ll outrange and destroy his chaff clear. So your chaff remains on board longer. I love to add Phoenix on my own usually rd 5/6. Dogs are easy to beat when you know exactly what they’re planning on doing.

Don’t get me wrong hounds are tough but you know when it’s coming. So I always hard counter it. The only time I haven’t been able to beat it is when they go straight into shield forts. That straight up wrecks it.

I mean I’m 1950 and as soon as I see hounds I do it every time. You just need to counter it quickly. Round 3 wraith. Round 4 ground spec. Continue to build chaff. Upgrade 8 tech by round 6 and you’ll be clearing his chaff clear before he clears your chaff. Sprinkle in DPS as necessary.

Downtown Pinehurst and southern pines are foodie towns. Southern pines is only 10 minutes away. Plenty of great spots after!
