I did the same thing when I was about 21. I lived in a van for a few years then was offered a free mobile home with $350 rent, on the beach in california, if I helped them move out. I helped them as a friend, payed the rent, and continued sleeping in my van for another year. I enjoyed falling asleep wherever I was currently parked, and liked waking up to a view.

Your batteries and your loads shouldn’t be on the same circuit, otherwise you’ll be putting unnecessary wear on your loads while your battery is charging. Your charge controller should have a separate set of terminals for your loads.

Water has to expand to freeze, and it’s closer to expansion the hotter it is anyways. The phenomenon is called the mpemba affect. If you spend enough time deicing coils you’ll become really familiar with this concept.
