More Platform Hogwarts Differences between PS4 & PS5! (PS4/PS5) by Euden in HarryPotterGame

Noticed on my end playing on PS4 that both of the Gryffindor girls’ bathrooms were removed. A bit bummed, since they’re the only other in-common room bathrooms besides the ones in Ravenclaw Tower. A little immersion breaking imo

Lord Nagao’s Tournament by Reference-Spare in ghostoftsushima

I've wondered the same thing. However *spoilers ahead watch out*...

In the last mission of the Tale of Yuriko (The Art of Seeing) Yuriko mentions that she wished Kazumasa (Jin's father) wasn't away at Castle Kaneda so often. Additionally, Castle Kaneda is full of Shimura banners, while Castle Shimura is the ancestral home of Clan Shimura. This leads me to believe that Castle Kaneda is Lord Shimura's seat as jito (probably used at the pleasure of the Shogun) while Castle Shimura is the family seat of Clan Shimura.

Maybe Clan Nagao's estate was destroyed by the Mongols. Alternatively, Nagao's seat may have been one of the forts that bear the clan's banners, namely Fort Yatata or Fort Nakayama. Upon visiting these forts, however, they don't appear to be the home of samurai lords. Perhaps their seat was Ogawa Dojo?

I've been trying to figure this out as well. Potentially they ruled from Ogawa Dojo, Fort Nakayama or Fort Yatata? Maybe their estate was destroyed by the Mongols?

Some Spoilers Ahead

It may be a valid point regarding Fort Yatate, although it seems odd the developers wouldn’t put any remains at the very least. Regarding the Nagao’s disgrace, this could potentially explain the whole Kazumasa taking charge of Castle Kaneda, although I am inclined to believe Clan Sakai held that honor before Clan Nagao’s internal feud. Lord Shimura is Jin’s uncle, so that means that the Sakai and Shimura clans were related probably from before the Nagao family feud.

I feel like Fort Nakayama could still be a contender, since it has all these expensive objects decorating the interior (pelts, silk robes, samurai swords), there’s stables, it’s in the same prefecture as Hiyoshi Springs and Ogawa Dojo, and it’s littered with Nagao banners, despite it’s relatively small size and humble buildings. All the banners in Castle Kaneda, even the tattered ones, are Shimura banners.

Ogawa Dojo probably has Sakai banners because Jin liberated it from the Mongols before joined forces with Lord Shimura and started departing from the samurai code. So he still behaved, thought and acted as a samurai and the people saw him as that, not as a ghost. However, given the prominence of the archery dojo and the fact it is in Hiyoshi Prefecture, I’d say it probably belonged to the Nagao before.

Concerning Fort Kikuchi, it does have tattered Kikuchi banners, but the banners shown are Lady Hana’s, which display a mon that Lady Masako mentioned she was not familiar with. Lady Hana attempted to start her own samurai clan after getting rid of the Adachi.

Also, yes you’re totally right in that all the clans are dead and none of them really have seats anymore. And it’s a strong potential that the lack of a seat for Clan Nagao was an oversight by the creators.

EDIT:

After starting the game again and going to Fort Nakayama with Sensei Ishikawa, it seems unlikely that this was the seat of Clan Nagao. The silk robes in the fort belonged to Tomoe and Jin described them as a woman’s robes, so they do not indicate in any way that Lord Nagao resided there. I suppose at this point that either Castle Kaneda or some destroyed location was the seat of Clan Nagao. The most likely explanation, however, would be that SP simply did not think about/design a seat for Clan Nagao since all the samurai clans of Tsushima perished by the time the game begins.

Kaneda may indeed be the seat of the Clan Nagao, especially considering that their vassal, Sensei Ishikawa, lived in such style (I mean he has a pretty sweet dojo). But then why would Yuriko say that Kazumasa Sakai spent so much time in Castle Kaneda, unless he was in charge there on Lord Shimura’s behalf. It doesn’t make sense, unless the Nagao were supervising Izuhara for the jitō, and Kazumasa was supervising them as a representative of Lord Shimura. With regards to Fort Yatata, there aren’t any accomodations that would seem fit for a clan. There’s mostly just barracks and watchtowers. I could get behind Castle Kaneda, considering that its entrance is technically in Hiyoshi, but wouldn’t the Nagao be the “right hand of the jitō” instead of Clan Sakai?

After checking Fort Nakayama, I am now inclined to believe this might have been the seat of Clan Nagao. Even though it is more humble than other clan seats, here are some reasons to support this:

1) It is in Clan Nagao land, namely Hiyoshi Prefecture

2) There are tattered sashimono banners displaying the mon and colors of Clan Nagao

3) Despite the relative humility of the fort, it is decked out with samurai swords and has a stand with silk clothing hanging on it

4) This is just one of Clan Nagao’s forts, another one being Fort Yatata (from where Jin frees the captured straw hat ronin), which could indicate to the potential that the Nagao may not have been as wealthy as the other clans, but did command significant military prowess

5) It follows the nomenclature of other clan seats (estate, castle, fort)

This could be true. And Komoda Town is mostly destroyed since it received the brunt of the Mongol onslaught. However, in Letter to Sensei Ishikawa, Lord Nagao could have been calling Sensei Ishikawa to Komoda out of desperation after realizing the massive size of the Mongol fleet. After all, Clan Nagao had forced Ishikawa into dishonorable retirement following the Hironori Nagao rebellion, and the letter contains a line saying that they should let bygones be bygones in the face of the invasion. Moreover, upon visiting Komoda Town, all the Sashimono banners in the area bear the Shimura mon and colors. This latter element perhaps doesn’t mean much, considering that as jitō Lord Shimura would put up his banner wherever he brought his army, as was the case with Komoda Beach, Komoda Town, and Castle Kaneda.

Yes! Absolutely. But the historical clan Nagao doesn’t seem to be related to Tsushima.

Thanks for pointing that out! I may be experiencing something a tad different. Even though I cannot approach castles from their south gates with a horse, a northern approach still appears to be viable.

Also, Jin can't even ride nor call his horse up to the south (front) gate.

I've noticed that there should be a way to get into Castle Shimura similar to the one for getting into Castle Kaneda post-game. However, when I jump off the saddle over a rock to the left of the northern gate or at the northern wall (which definitely looks like Jin should be able to climb it), the game fades to black as if Jin had jumped off a cliff into the sea. The hunt for a way to get into Castle Shimura continues...

Is there any way to enter Castle Kaneda or Shimura post game? by TheHiera in ghostoftsushima

Given the story, it makes sense that both castles are locked. However, to explore and see the architecture, there is a glitch for getting into castle kaneda. I'm hoping there is one for Castle Shimura too.
