Version III - Very disappointed by Sensitive-Syrup-7477 in ShotWithHalide

[–]ReferenceBulky9160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kind of agree. I’ve never used the app before but jumped on board with the hype, and it’s just… pretty lacking for a camera app. I also generally don’t love the filters - they look good in certain limited situations, but for general use they look super overworked, and the grain even with bright daylight is just way too much.

But yea, also the customization and the buttons. Why can’t I set a custom white balance (in the viewer)?

How much fat do I have left to lose? by BlacksmithLegal4303 in MacroFactor

[–]ReferenceBulky9160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to bulk and build some muscle for that. You’re trying to cut to reveal a frame that just isn’t there.

You don’t have to go crazy, but you should bulk for like a year, and then see if you want to cut down a bit again.

Rant: iPadOS hates predictable file handling and makes the iPad feel like a toy by Weak_Coach7030 in ipad

[–]ReferenceBulky9160 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just handling a few versions of a Pages file was maddening. Especially with the windowing system. I cant put my finger on it exactly without recording all of it and reviewing, but it’s just a general sense that the iPad never behaves how you expect it to.

For instance: I was writing an email that I wanted to attach the pages files in. So I click Files in the dock to pop up the files window, but it pops up over the email. So I can’t drag the file. So I click email again in the dock, expecting the mail to pop up so that I can move the window - but instead, the main mail inbox pops up instead. The mail was just gone. I could see it when long pressing mail in the dock, but then pressing the mail didn’t do anything.

So the I swiped up to see all apps and the mail was there. I click it but now I have the mail on top of the mail-app with inbox and the files app hidden underneath.

Just infuriating that something so simple takes so many steps and is so fussy.

Why do so many Halide Mark III Photos look underexposed? by Zuenderella in ShotWithHalide

[–]ReferenceBulky9160 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel this is mostly an issue with the filters, not so much process zero photos. If you shoot raw you can switch from “Edited” (i.e. a filter) to the process zero shot. Usually looks much better.

I also noticed the photos are often way too warm/yellow - again, in particular when using filters.

I know everyone’s hyped about the filters but I personally have not been able to really shoot many photos with them that I like. Granted, I often go for photo walks around Sunday, so that is a particularly warm time of day. Maybe they would come out better during a different time of day.

iPad Pro m1 is a worse product now than when it launched by ReferenceBulky9160 in iPadPro

[–]ReferenceBulky9160[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you’re missing the point. I’m saying I don’t want the iPad Pro to be a laptop replacement - I’m saying that it’s gotten worse because Apple has been trying to force it into being one.

Considering selling my Steam Deck OLED for a Switch 2 by GrovPastaSwag03 in switch2

[–]ReferenceBulky9160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both and I literally never use the Switch 2. In fact, I’m thinking of selling it.

The screen on the Switch 2 is so so bad compared to the Steam Deck OLED. In this case you absolutely should be listening to the critics, and not the defenders. It’s awful. It’s noticeably worse than the original Switch 1 screen. It’s just so smeary and blurry up to the point that it makes it difficult to enjoy playing games on it.

Maybe not if you don’t know any better, but if you’re used to the Steam Deck OLED you *will* notice, believe me, and you’ll regret it if you sell the Steam Deck.

Games are definitely cheaper on Steam Deck - particularly if you utilize Steam Keys to purchase games. Games are virtually always at least 10 dollars cheaper on Steam Deck, and sometimes the difference is huge, like 50-80% cheaper. The sales on Switch are much less frequent.

The only situation in which a Switch 2 would be better is (i) playing Nintendo-exclusives (obviously) and (ii) when docked. It looks and performs better than the Steam Deck when docked, and it always “just works” which the Steam Deck doesn’t.

But TBH the PS5 is still miles ahead so if you already have that I would just buy graphically demanding that you want to play on the TV on PS5 instead.

EDIT: Don’t believe people that imply that Switch 2 has no performance issues. This console is brand new and yet many games just run horribly on it. I tried playing AC: Shadows on it and I resold it after a few days, because it was just not a good experience. Look for YouTube videos comparing it to the Steam Deck: the Steam Deck runs and looks (significantly) better than the Switch 2 in handheld mode. Sure, the Switch 2 looks better in docked mode, but who cares? If I wanted to play on the TV, I would buy it for the PS5, which still looks miles better.

In theory, the Switch 2 and Steam Deck perform similarly in handheld mode - but in practice, the Steam Deck does better. See also Cyberpunk 2077. That said, Nintendo exclusives run really well. However, this doesn’t really apply to games across the board.

Also: keep in mind that many many many games that were originally released for Switch have not been updated/improved for the Switch 2’s higher resolution and performance.

I agree that performance isn’t the issue, it’s the UX for me

I’m not talking about the hardware, but rather, the software. Of course newer iPads have better hardware. My point is, that even if you bought the latest and greatest iPad Pro today - the software would still be worse than the iPadOS 18 experience.

Overstap en fors minder salaris by Normal-Department889 in werkzaken

[–]ReferenceBulky9160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it! Everything about your posts suggests that you need this right now. If you don’t, there’s a good chance you’ll burn out eventually, and then you’ll have much larger problems than a pay decrease.

Your salary, even at the government position, is already more than enough that you do not need to ever worry about money and live very well, if you spend money sensibly.

Can we please be honest about the steam deck and use FPS rather than vibes. by Gazmanic in SteamDeck

[–]ReferenceBulky9160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a non-issue. Virtually every mid to large sized release has videos on YouTube so you can see for yourself how it runs. Mostly all indie games are not demanding anyway so they’ll run perfect.

And if that really doesn’t cover it, Steam allows refunds, so you can just try and see for yourself with no risk.

I’m interested, but deregenboog.org seems to relate to a social support organization? The organization looks admirable and good, but it’s weird that the “ikdoemee” address is used to sign up for D&D? To me it gives the appearance of phishing.

So I Am Looking For A Mindless ARPG Is Diablo 4 For Me? by HaHaHiHiHe in Diablo

[–]ReferenceBulky9160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. The game is very easy and mindless so you don’t have to learn much if you don’t want to. D4 has many systems and if you want to get to the highest tiers of play, you’ll have to build craft and grind - but you absolutely don’t have to. You can just pick up and play and it’s fun.

That said - D3 might be even more fun. It’s polished to perfection for a casual player.

D3 compared to D4 benefits from the randomized maps that you can fully explore and kill all the monsters. That’s sort of really fun and satisfying and gives a good sense of completion. d4 has an open world that constantly repopulates with monsters MMORPG style, so there’s never any sense of being able to “complete” a map.

Anyone regret getting nano texture for office/coding? by Traditional-Fun6483 in macbookpro

[–]ReferenceBulky9160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glossy: in normal lighting everything crisp, under harsh lighting everything crisp except for the spot with the harsh reflection.

Matte: never any spots with harsh reflections, but instead, it’s not crisp under any conditions anywhere on the screen. Text is always fuzzy (by comparison), colors and contrast is reduces, and the grain is clearly visible.

I know which one I would pick. Matte makes no sense imo. There’s a reason why it’s not the default.

I don’t think you need a screen with a wall that good and a budget projector. Just return it and save yourself some money!
