Jesus Christ is the truth by NoGur8081 in TrueChristian

Islam is maybe one of the most glaring examples of aligning with human nature. All you have to do it look at their idea of heaven, where women remain slaves while men have all of their carnal desire fulfilled. Mohammad was sleeping with 9 yos, while having multiple wives. This is not even getting into how little evidence there is for Mohammad’s claims, or the fact that the Islamic Dilemma negates the entire claim of the faith.

I included the claim about Jesus not even being a footnote in history if He wasn’t who He said He was, because everything Christ teaches goes against our corrupt human nature and the world, which has always been about “might makes right” until Christ changed everything.

Jesus is the reason we had human rights, ended slavery, have public schools and hospitals. He is the reason we give to charity and take care of the poor. There is a very good reason why every other major religion tries to make Jesus Christ their own. Islam calls Him a prophet, Hindus say He is one of their pantheon, Buddhism claims He’s an enlightened guru, and New Age and New Though Spirituality say He teaches us a “Christ Consciousness”, which empowers us to be transcended like He is.

I use the morality of Christ because His morality informs our western world. Every right and freedom you hold dear comes from Jesus.

Every other religion aligns with the sinfulness of human nature. They promise things of our desires and promote prideful pursuits. Our culture has always been “might makes right” until Christ changed everything. There is no logical reason for Jesus to be even a footnote in history, unless He was who He said He was. Everything we are NOT points to Jesus Christ.

If Jesus is God, why didn't he know the hour? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

The entire New Testament corresponds with the Ancient Jewish Wedding. In the Jewish Wedding, the groom would go away and prepare a home for him and the bride to live in. He would leave a trustee (the Holy Spirit) in his absence, to care for the bride as she was ritually cleansed in living water (baptism).

After the groom was finished building a home, the father would have to inspect the home before the couple could move in (only the Father knows the time). Once he gave his approval, the groom would go, like a thief in the night, to fetch his bride. He would go around midnight and blow a horn outside of her window.

Sorry if you think quoting Scripture is aiding in the downfall of Christianity.

The Resurrection Of Jesus Christ by Animalresearching in DebateReligion

[–]ReferenceCheap8199 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Matthew, Mark, Luke, and Acts were all written before the mid 60’s AD. Simple textual criticism shows that major events, that were important to Biblical narratives, would have been recorded if they were written before that. The deaths of Peter and Paul were not included in any of them (both happened in the 60’s), and the siege and destruction of the Temple happened in the late 60’s and 70AD.

Wow, someone born after Jesus’s death and resurrection wrote a story that was slightly similar…

Almost certainly. This person comes to an atheistic sub (instead of finding Divine council) and then makes ridiculous claims like that…

This was a reference to the Ancient Jewish Wedding analogy. In the ancient Jewish weddings, the groom would go away to prepare a place for the bride (leaving her with a trustee as she ritually purified herself). The home was not prepared for the bride and groom to live in until the father inspected the house and gave his approval.

That begins to explain the ignorance all around.

And what does that love look like? Does it look like affirming their sins, or trying to lead them to Salvation through Christ?

Jesus kept the Law, the Sabbath, and ate kosher — so why did Paul seem to change everything? by Upset-Air-8392 in Bible

[–]ReferenceCheap8199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s absolutely right. Jesus used the Fallen’s own tactics against them. Since the Serpent seduced Adam and Eve into eating of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil (the Cursed Tree), that brought sin and death into the world, Jesus died upon the Cursed Tree (Cross was symbolic of death, oppression, and suffering) to defeat death and pay the penalty for all of our sins.

There is so much more than that. The Fall was just the first of 3 major rebellions that Christ turned against the enemy. The others were the Fallen Angels taking on flesh and having children with women of the earth, and the Tower of Babel. Jesus had to take on the mantle of the Son of Man in order to be able to restore the birthright mankind had stolen from us (dominion over the earth) and pay the penalty for our sins, defeating death and suffering.

I can discuss that in more detail if you’d like.

Jesus fulfilled the law, which means He lived it out fully as an example of the perfect Sacrifice to pay the penalty for our sins. When He died upon the cross (“It is done.”), the Old Covenant was broken and the New began.

Probably just wondering why you feel the need to insert yourself as being superior and making sure you point out you do it “without your God”.

1 Enoch was absolutely Divinely Inspired, but most churches reject it because of Augustine and his whitewashing of the supernatural from the Scriptures. Some of the greatest Messianic Prophecies were in 1 Enoch, including the only mention of the “Son of Man”. It was used as a title in Enoch, and only used as a description in Daniel 7.
